Ok well that didn't work. Seven days until we leave. Looks like the bikes are going in the bed of the truck. I just can't believe the bumper won't hold the bikes. The bumper is welded on three sides to the frame.

On my walkthrough I was told my bumper was rated for 100#'s
I'm looking at the rack that attaches to the front of the TT. For now we will throw them in the bed of the truck.

Interested in what others do, subscribing. For now, I'm going to buy a truck bed rack that holds all of the bikes upright.

I'm building a kayak/bike rack out of PVC. I'll post pics when I'm finished...

I notice your cooler is handy for refreshment during the project.

I don't know if I would trust PVC to hold kayaks at highway speed. They catch a lot of wind when over your cab. Check your local farm store. I bought metal steel tube ladder racks for $160 that work great.

Well, a little late now. But if they fail I will definitely look into that. The rack seems pretty sturdy, everything is all tied down snug. Went for a ride with my buddy behind me and he said it looked sturdy. Heading to lake Chautauqua tomorrow, about 2.5hr drive. I'll report back...

It looks good. Nice engineering. 250 mile trip at highway speeds ought to be a good test! Good luck.

Solid. Not much movement at all. We made it fine. I am planning to add one more brace but it worked great! The best part was with the camper attached the whistling/howling I heard on my test drive was gone...
Not bad for $100!

I built one last year of PVC even had a smaller size inside the horizontal tube to give strength and it snapped in half. Good luck I would go metal this time. I saw one for under a Tonue Cover that is metal and can't find it now.

Yours looks like a better design than mine did so It might be ok. I saw one made of 2x4 and that was when I did mine.

I made one out of 2x4 that worked great. Fit into the stake pockets.
