First time winterizer
Good morning- so while I am not a first-time owner, I'm going to be a first-time winterizer. My last unit was a small hybrid- pulling the drains and blowing it out was all it needed for the Arkansas winters that just don't get that cold. Ten years without an issue. I think the 28BH is going to need a bit more than that...
Instead of wasting a lot of time asking questions that have I'm sure been asked a million times here, can someone direct me to a good article or two in the documents section? I'm half-considering just having CW do it, anyone know offhand how much that costs? We will use the unit through the winter, just won't use the water. There's a local campground with good bathhouses open all year. I plan to drain the lines while we are out this weekend, winterize in the next few weeks before it gets too cold.

Easiest way is to ask a friend or neighbour that has a trailer and does his own winterizing to aid you. I do it for the cost of 1 1/2 jugs of pink anti freeze. About $5. $0 if just blowing out lines and leaving low point and taps open.

I was like you this fall, first time winterizing. I just read in this winterizing section and made a few notes, then tackled the beast. First I found the extra hose to pump, and put a jug of pink, closed the water heater, turned on the pump, opened bathroom shower hot + cold till pink, bathroom sink hot + cold till pink, toilet, kitchen hot + cold, outside kitchenette hot + cold till pink, outside shower hot + cold till pink, city water pushed in little white backup valve, then shut off pump, opened valves and drained the lines, then reopened them for winter, removed the hot water tank drain plug, blew out the black water rinse line, filled the toilet about half full of pink to prevent seal from drying. removed bedding, paper and anything that might attract mice and pressed brass/copper wool around slide corners if light was visible. refastened underbelly enclosure material to eliminate the opening/bulges between the flatwashers/bolts holding up that material. I also added a 1.5 inch angle iron right across the front between the frame and front fiberglass cap where there is a 1 5/8 inch opening to eliminate the possibility of a mouse starting a nest up inside there. Added a metal screen to the fridge outside grill so mice can't get in through there. Added tire covers and have yet to spray some peppermint oil around the tire/wheels, underbelly and tongue jack as been told to believe that this helps repel mice. Yet to add a mouse trap or 2 but will. This is a few thing I've done, probably forgot to mention a few also, but hope this helps get you started hopefully in the right direction.

Can anyone tell me where the water pump is on a 28BH? I can’t for the life of me find it.

Have you turned the pump on and listened for it? You should be able to track it down that way if somebody doesn't come along with the exact location.

If you have an icemaker in your fridge, be sure and blow that out - do not use pink
Here I just blow the lines out and dump a bit of pink in the traps (more to keep smells on the right side of the traps than anything )

Sooo, once I figured out the “ez winterizer” thing on the water pump, the whole thing was a snap and I’ll be returning the hand pump I thought I needed. LOL. I don’t have an ice-maker, so no worries there. I did remember the outdoor shower. Glad I bought that extra gallon of antifreeze, as the first gallon went straight on the ground because I forgot to close the low point drains 😂.

4 Gallons of pink to winterize mine....I know it did not fill the water heater as I had the drain and T&P valve open the entire time. I had ALOT of air in my lines!
I do the Bounce dryer sheet trick but my trailer is stored inside and this works well thus far. Here is a run down on my winter list:
- Wash entire unit top to bottom
- Remove all bedding, clothes and food stores
- Clean out both refrigerators and secure open
- Drain all low points
- Remove drain plug from water heater, connect hoes to T&P valve to flush
- Remove plastic spray heads and sink aerators
- Put system and bypass and pump the pink stuff through until it comes out each side of the faucets with no air pockets
- Pour some pink stuff down all drains and toilet
- Lubricate the slide seals and retract both slides
- Check tire pressures, lubricate suspension, stabilizers and steps
- Back unit into storage, crack open a roof vent and remove battery
That's my list. Any other ideas that work well are welcome as this is only the third time I've done this. (Should note-first time using pink stuff as I used air in the past)

I didn’t see any mention of the black tank flush. Be sure to blow the water out of that line.

Like Mark said, use an air compressor to blow into it. They make a plastic fitting to connect to hose end on water line or black tank flush, and then to the air compressor. You can get it at Walmart, Amazon or any RV dealer. Use 40-45 lb pressure on either. There are more steps like opening the water faucets inside for the water lines, but the black tank flush is quick. Hook it up and 15-30 seconds later your done. If you’re quick, you can hear the water being pushed out and then the air behind it.
Oh yeah, did you run the antifreeze through the outdoor shower hose?

Now that's one thing I've never done is the black tank flush line!
I must have been lucky the last 30 years
or maybe the line is routed such that it always drains ???? dunno, but not a bad idea, just don't use the same connection you will use on the fresh water... hate to contaminate it

Thanks JBToo, I forgot to mention that. I also don’t know if there is enough water to freeze in there, and our freezes aren’t too severe, but when I blow it out, I definitely hear water at first going out before the air.

Do not forget to push the white button behind the screen of the city water connection...push it in and have someone turn on the pump for a bit till red ( or air) comes out . do not try to push it with full water pressure or you will dislodge the o ring....trust me.
