I have a 2003 Chevy and sometime ago someone said that GM did not hookup the 12 Acc. on the 7 pin plug for the trailer and the wire was tucked up but I cannot remember where the wire was. I looked under the hood but not under the dash. Could someone give an old man some info on this as I do not have that pin working on my chevy. Thanks and I do enjoy reading all of the comments about every type of trailer. Robbie

Check the fuse box under the hood, the wire is more than likely run just no fuse in the box

That is the way mine was. The dealer popped a fuse in and was good to go.

Mine is a 2008 Chevy. On mine, the problem was that the wrong wire was connected on the fuse block. The proper wire was hidden (literally) under the fuse block. Once pulled out and connected, the 12V was where it should be.

Had already checked the fuse and it was ok. But Now will check the fuse holder to see if it has power on one side. The fuse I checked was listed as an Acc. and it was under the hood. Thanks for the input......

There are two fuses in the fuse box with the attachment lugs outside the box. One 40a and one 30A. The wire is near the back and possibly under the fuse box (front left engine compartment). I hooked my wire to the 30A. The 40A may be for the camper harness which is tied between the cab and bed near the frame rails.

Look in the glove box, There should be a wiring harnes in there, Under the tape you will find a fuse, The fuse goes under the hood on the driver side fender you will find a fuse box, Pull the lid off and look under the lid and it should tell you where to put the fuse.

Pardon my lack of knowledge but I know just enough about home and trailer wiring to get in trouble. How can I check to see if my 12V is hooked up in my plug from the box on my 2006 Duramax 3500?

thanks

If you have the 7 pin plug, when you hold it up and look at it with the positioning lug on top, the pin that is at 1 o'clock should be your battery pin. If you reverse that to the female plug on your truck, you should be able to check it out with a voltage meter.
