I just went had my first annual inspection done yesterday. I had to bring it to another Crossroads dealership as my dealership closed due to the owner retiring because of health reasons. I brought it to Halls RV in Albertville AL. and I was very satisfied at thejob and attention to detail that they displayed. The tech went over things with me in detail and even checked things that were not on the list but that I had expressed concern about. The total bill was $97.50. I will be a repeat customer of theirs.

Thats the annual inspection that is required by Crossroads on our 08 Cruiser to maitain the 5yr structural warranty. If you do not get this inspection it voids the warranty.

yes,its for the 5yr structural warranty. I don't know if it applies to the Zinger line. But in the information packet there is a a pamplet titled "manufactures warrantystatement and policy". On the last page there is a form called an Inspection and service certification and it explains what is required.

When you buy your 5 year warrenty who get's the money Crossroads or dealer? Just seems like you people are paying crossroads for warrenty but you have to pay dealer to do job. Isn't this double dipping? I never had a extended warrenty where I had to pay both sides.

The 5 yr structural warranty is not an extended warranty. It is the standard warranty that comes with each unit. 2 yr bumper to bumper + 5 yr stuctural warranty. You have to get a annual inspectionto validatestructural warranty but you have to pay for inspection. The inspection is as follows 1) Inspect roof for damage and repair if required 2)Inspect lap sealant on roof and replace or add sealant as requiured 3)inspect sealant on all windows and reseal as required 4)Inspect all clearance lights for cracks and inspect seals around lights reseal as required 5) inspect all exterior mouldings and reseal as required 6)Inspect roof cavity for condesation and correct and reinstruct customer on how to resolve condensation issue

I take mine to the dealer to have it inspected for the structural warranty on July 9th. Should not be any problems since the factory just went over the whole outside and recaulked the whole trailer in April.

Let me try to get this straight you have a 5 year warrenty and pay a dealer 500 to a 1000 dollars to keep it up. Sorry this seems like a scheme to keep you going back to the dealer.

I think having to pay for this inspection stinks but its the policy of the manufacturer. I think if they offer a 5 yr warranty then there should be no charge for the inpectionssince they require them.

Well I guess after reading this post we will be loosing our 5 year structual warranty at the end of this month. We bought our trailer new one year ago this month and we have plans for ours through the end of July. But after seeing what most "techs" do for this inspection, walk around your trailer and give it the once over then slap a little caulk on it and charge you for the pleasure I don't think I would be taking it in anyway. I do that same maintance on our trailer every couple of month's and would bet I do a better job than the dealer tech would. If you build a product and you say it has a 5 year structual warranty why should we as owners be made to haul our trailers to a dealer at our expense then pay that dealer whatever they feel is a reasonable fee to look it over and caulk a few things and say we are good until next year? Why should I or any other owner have to pay each year to have our trailer inspected to retain a warranty we have already paid for when we bought the trailer? What am I missing here?

I will say that if we do have any structual issue issue in the next 4 years and CR refuses to cover it for lack of a yearly inspection this will be the last CR prodcut we ever own. Sorry for the rant but don't make us pay each year just to keep our warranties.Edited by: Hunter11

I 110% agree with you Hunter !! It is a shame to jump through costlyhoops to keep a warranty valid....I Hope nothing happens to mine and I don't haveany issues or problems with warranty. I check the 5er often even though it spends most of the year in a garage. I have a problem paying someone to do something that I am perfectly capable doing myself (and do it better)...Wow now I need a nerve pill...lol

What about the people that have their unit on a permanent or seasonal site? Each year do you pack it all up and haul it or have someone haul it to an authorized dealer for the inspection then haul it back and set it back up again until the next year? It would either be that or pay the authorized dealer a trip charge to come out and do the inspection then pay for that service on top of the trip charge. That could get expensive over a 5 year period.

Does the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act only cover automobiles? Here is a comment from a website I found.

The rules and regulations adopted by the FTC, to govern the interpretation and enforcement of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, are set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 16 - Commercial Practices, Chapter I - Federal Trade Commission, Subchapter G - Rules, Regulations, Statements and Interpretations Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Part 700 - Interpretations Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Contained within these rules and regulations is Section 700.10, which states, in relevant part as follows:

<DIV align=center>

<CENTER>

<TABLE cellPadding=2 width=550>

<T>

<TR>

<TD width=542>(c) No warrantor may condition the continued validity of a warranty on the use of only authorized repair service and/or authorized replacement parts for non-warranty service and maintenance. For example, provisions such as, "This warranty is void if service is performed by anyone other than an authorized 'ABC' dealer and all replacement parts must be genuine 'ABC' parts," and the like, are prohibited where the service or parts are not covered by the warranty.These provisions violate the Act in two ways. First, they violate the section 102(c) ban against tying arrangements. Second, such provisions are deceptive under section 110 of the Act, because a warrantor cannot, as a matter of law, avoid liability under a written warranty where a defect is unrelated to the use by a consumer of "unauthorized" articles or service. </TD></TR></T></TABLE></CENTER>

There were a couple of threads on this in the old forums. I think the consensus was that Crossroads required this annual inspection to cover all the folks that don't take the time or care that is needed to maintain the rig leak-free. I guess if you are Crossroads you have to think about that. I just had my unit back to Crossroads in June for a stuctural repair on the roof and was not asked for my inspection record. Maybe they could tell by the looks of my unit that it had been taken care of and didn't need to ask for proof

There is also a three year annual inspection for the fridge. At least my Dometic has that requirement. I justhad the last inspection done. I agree with all the above. It does sound like a waste of money.

When I took in my unit for the one year inspection, the dealer didn't know anything about the inspection. They did write that I asked for the inspection. The owner retired and the business is closed. SOOOOO did crossroads back out of their side of the deal? I have another place to go, but they didn't sell the unit to me. I agree with Hunter and will add if I change my own oil in my vehicle I don't void the warranty. So if I fill out the form and perform the checks, I feel I am covered.

This seems to be a good question to ask at the factory rally.
