Our #1 gray tank was almost full so I decided it was now or never to try our our brand new Barker 42 gallon waste tote. My biggest enlightenment was that I needed to loosen the cap containing the fill gauge to permit the air inside the tank to be replaced by the foul smelling gray water. I managed to get the blueboy filled without incident, i.e. me being covered head to toe in disgusting waste water. I then attached it to the ball hitch and towed it very slowly the 150 yards to the dump. After inserting the drain hose into the dump I unscrewed the intake cap causing the waste water inside the tank to drain like Niagara Falls into the dump. Needless to say, I almost broke my arm patting myself on the back.

When I got back to our campsite I went around to the back of the truck to unhook the blueboy so I could store it back under our coach. Well, the blueboy was about 50 yards behind the truck having detached itself from the ball after going over a slight bump. Sheepishly I backed up and reattached the tank and acted as though nothing had happened all the while imagining that everyone at the campground was by now rolling on the ground in waves of hysterical laughter.

Mission Accomplished!

With our first trailer I bought a 20 or so gallon blue boy went through the usual learning curve stuff a few drips on my feet etc.and decided thatI would transport it in the box of my truck back to the campsite once emptied (about 5 miles). Thought that my tailgate was up purchased a new blue boy the following week

hey Art thats a funny one..

Maybe to stop that from happening try the rubber air filled tire mod to the blueboy. I did it to mine and it makes it quiet and it takes the bumps alot better. I have the 32 gallon tote and as far as totes goes (I had another brand before this one) this is the king of the sh!$ hill if you ask me. Pun intended

The second attempt was not as smooth as #1. While draining the rear black tank the hose disconnected from the fitting causing a suitable amount of "unpleasantness" to spew forth onto the ground and my sneaks.

I will get this right or end up the stinkiest guy at the Lewisville Lake Campground.

I recently got a Thetford Smart toteXL 35 gallon 4 wheel model. I have not used it for other than the 2 gray tanks yet, but I lost mine TWICE on the way TO the dump station. Felt the same wave of embarrasment as I rehitched in front of several people. I got my hitchingequipment revamped and no more problems.

I put my Barker 42 right in the truck bed and use a Flojet macerator to grind and pump waste up into it. This makes less mess and I don't have to creep back and forth to the dump station. And with the blueboy being up in the truck it empties in a hurry. That Flojet will pump up to 50 feet away.
