Peeling furniture

We have a 2013 Cruiser CF330SS that has two "leather" recliners in the rear and a "leather" sofa. The outer skin is peeling off kind of like your skin peeling if you get a sunburn. We have not used this unit but about 12 weekends so it's not from over use. It's irksome that we will have to spend at least $1700 to replace the furniture. Anyone else have this problem?

Look in the I believe June issue of Trailer Life. They helped a couple get their peeling furniture replaced.

Have not heard of that but knowing the quality of RV furniture, it doesn't surprise me. Do you keep the window shades down when the rig is stored? Sometimes a lot of steady sun will do strange things to furniture.

My. Chairs are peeling also. I just account it to cheap furniture

Sorry about your furniture. But love the word "irksome".

The issue with peeling furniture isn't uncommon. I've ready about it at many different RV forums.

Replacing the furniture after a couple of years is almost expected unless you're buying a top end RV.

Yes. Our chairs and couch lasted only 1.5 years before having to replace. We went with fabric chairs and are still recovering from that expense, then we may replace the couch also. Seems to be very cheap "pleather" or "bonded leather" and very common to breakdown and fall apart. (with no steady sunlight). Good luck!

Has anyone considered the re-upholstery route ?

I had some seating done locally and was pleasantly surprised by the cost and gobsmacked by the phenomenal quality of the finished product.

I ran into the peeling problem on regular furniture a couple of years ago. For awhile they were making inexpensive 'leather' furniture with a thin veneer on cloth backing and had a lot of problems with peeling. I believe they have now either improved the process or stopped using it, which doesn't help you unfortunately. I would nose around to see if there are any class actions or consumer recalls.

Too bad the Nauga is now on the endangered species list. Naugahide was just about indestructible.

We replaced our couch bed with a double recliner with a center console. Purchased on EBay through RecPro. Very happy with price and comfort. My post: http://www.crossroadsowners.com/foru...ure-13155.html
