So I didn't end up buying a F450. With the economic downturn I came across an ex-field truck, a 2012 F-350 XLT cab and chassis crew cab 4x4 with a flat deck, 6.2L gas and 4.30 rear end. Just like my '11 F250 gasser, I get 8 mpg loaded but it handles the trailer beautifully loaded with two quads and all our gear on the flat deck and no more concerns going over the weigh scales about truck's rear GAWR or exceeding the rear tire safety rating.
