Having trouble finding a happy medium with my brake controller. Seems to be too light to all of a sudden too much. Camper is new. Brake controller is several years old. Have not had issues with using with other trailers. How are you setting yours?

I found an old country road near me...get up to 40 mph then using only the hitch manually, set the trailer brake until it slows your TV down to 25....drive another mile or so...do the same thing...repeat about a dozen times or so...it will set your brakes and is the recommended method from Lippert. Mine is set at about 2.3 I believe.

Hope this helps,
Jim

What kind of brake controller are you using? Is it time based or proportional? you want a good proportional brake controller, not a time based one. If proportional try what Jim suggests and if that doesn't work then check your trailer brakes.

I honestly don't know what kind it is. When on pavement around 2.5 feels about right, but then I noticed that it felt like the wheels would lock up in the driveway which is gravel. Kinda tight getting it turned around and backed in to it's home so had to turn it off. Just had not noticed it being that sensitive with other trailers in the past. Just have to keep playing with it I guess. Thanks.

Went from a 30 ft to a 26 ft 5th wheel which is a lotttt lighter so have been having to play with mine to get it set right.
