Thumbs up New to me tow vehicle, Diesel finally

My 2001 Chevy 6.0 tows fine on the flats but hitting the mountains we always got passed and had to have the high rpm's to struggle over passes. After towing heavy for 4 years we finally upgraded over Thanksgiving. Picked up a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab long bed with the 6.7. I wouldn't sign any papers until they looked into the check engine light, turned out the turbo actuator. They are putting new turbo on, absorbing the cost. Can't wait to get it in my hands and do an actual tow with it, just on the test drive it was an amazing difference of power.

I am sure it will do great for you. We recently upgraded our 2003 dodge 2500 crew cab w/ 8ft bed to a 2006 3500 single axle crew cab w/ 8ft bed. We are loving it. Hubby just tried to pull it out from the 5th wheel with the tailgate up and bent the tailgate. Still pod about that. I had just wrapped that tailgate, now I have to start all over again.

Good Choice! Enjoy the Ride.

We've towed Cruisers with RAM heavy duty trucks for over 25,000 miles. We spend much time in the Rocky Mountains and the 2012 RAM 3500 diesel gets some hard workouts pulling over Dead Indian Pass, Sylvan Pass, McDonald Pass, Powder River Pass and Homestake Pass plus others.

1,To avoid injector problems we use Stanadyne faithfully.
2,If the batteries need changing make sure to follow procedures; a new ECM is costly.
3, Pull the radiator cowling once and awhile and hose out the 5 lbs of bugs that are causing the cooling fan to run more often.
4, If you hear an odd noise from under the hood check your water pump. They don't always leak before failure.
5, For the hell of it and when not towing take her up to 30 mph, step down hard and hang on. Darn if i don't love those 300+ horses.

Thanks for the tips Dave.

I have an 02 z28 with the 5.7, and a KIA Stinger with a turbo. Neither one of them has the torque this Ram does which is what really gets the smile factor wide.

Maybe the Power Wagon would have been a better choice for you.

Either way RAM will "Get"er Done".
