There is also a gusset at the outside where the angle meets the sidebeam.

Hank:
How are they coming with your rig?
Has CR addressed that weld job shown in your pics?

As a welder I have to say I've seen some bad welds and those are bad. Allot of those welds will more than likely crack on your first road trip. Unacceptable repair do to welds, someone needs to buy that shop a mig welder and some gas.

I picked up my coach on Thursday. Randy brought out a forklift to raise and lower the rig. There is now 1/4" movement at the front bolts holes and 1/2" movement at the center amber light. That is down from 3/4" and 15/16" inch before the changes were done. This is acceptable to me as there has to be a bit of flex in this area.

The only way I could tell that they removed the front cap and underskin was they added a few screws/washers to the underskin to secure it better to the frame. There is really no stiffness to the plastic covering and this will help keep the plastic from sagging with age. If you didn't know they were not there to start with you wouldn't know they were added.

The few other nick pick things they also took care of. They were they replaced the water pump as I thought it was a bit noisy, replaced the tank flush screen, replaced a piece of interior paneling seam tape, fixed the step light. Overall I'm happy with the work done and feel confident I'll not have any problems with this area in the future.

Glad they made things right to your satisfaction.

What kind of guarantee did they give you on that fine welding job?

The work will have the same 5 years warranty as the rest of the frame.

Just got back from my first trip, about 150 miles round trip. There were no issues and it towed well. Unfortunately I can not compare towing from before because I got a new truck. What I do find interesting is that my old truck was a 2WD and the new one is a 4WD. It is a dually so it does not sit as high as a SRW 4WD truck (225 tires vs 265 tires). But, the pin box only needed to be raised 1" to level the trailer. I believe part of this is because the front of the trailer was dropping an additional 1"+ before the modifications which is a total of 2"+ from the front of the trailer frame to the back (front drops 1", rear raises 1").With that the total change from the old truck to the new truck is 2"+ which seems about right to me from my static measurements.

I believe the frame has a 2 year warranty. I really hope they did fix your issue. Now it will be interesting to see if others with the newer notched frame have flex issues like yours and Larry's.

It's "we offer the original purchaser of the following products a 2 year (from

date of delivery) warranty against defects in materials and

workmanship. This includes a limited, 5-year structural guarantee

against floor, walls and roof defects from the date of delivery." So I would guess it would fall under the two year part of the warranty.

Hank, I just hope they got you all fixed up. I know how frustrating it must be for you having to deal with something like this on a new trailer. I hope you have many years of trouble free service from your unit.

I got to visit the Crossroads factory this weekend and I noticed they have changed the design of the frame. The side rails are extended, gussets are added, larger L brackets for the sidewalls and the bedroom subfloor is tack welded to the crossmember (on the top where you can't see it in the pic). About the same mods they made to mine and Larry's frame. Surprising it didn't take them long to incorporate those changes on production units.

Hank,

Is the extension like your, or slightly longer like mine, or could you even tell since the walls aren't on yet?

I think this is proof that customer feedback can have an impact. And I am glad that Crossroads is a company that is 'reachable' compared to some that do their best to put you off or force almost all communications thru the dealer, which means slower and garbled information. Less than 8 weeks from Hank's Cruiser arriving back at the factory and production has already changed.

I could not tell for sure on the length of the extension but it appears to be a bit shorter like mine. Overall I would call this excellent reaction to a possible issue and the short time from identifying it to actual changes in production pieces. I was really surprised as I've dealt with large companies and the amount of time it takes to make major engineering changes.

Hey folks

Looks like i am one of the unlucky ones with the flex issue but mine is a little different.

Took in to my dealer today (VogtRV) and hooked up to fork left and did the measurements, but we all noticed that the entire pin box moves up almost 2 inches (Almost like it is on a piviot) then when let down it drops back almost 2 inches again. Dealer got photos and video of the movement. I went inside the master bedroom and open the closet sliding doors while they moved it up and down, OMG the entire front of the camper flexes. You can see the floor of the closet flex as they move the fork lift up and down.

Now I am very, very concerned. Unit is less than 2 years old but was told by the dealer that the frame is only a year. WTH?

Any advice would be appreciated but its out of my hands now, VogtRV is speaking with the Factory etc.

WE'll see but I sure hope we can resolve this major flexing issue.

Yup Lippert went to a one year frame warranty but I am not sure of the time frame. I hope you get your issue taken care of with no out of pocket on your part. Keep us posted.

If your unit has a sticker by the door that says 2+5 year warranty, you should be covered for 5 years on the frame.

The 5 years is the "structure" warranty (walls, roof, floor) not the frame. I have never known Lippert to have more than a 2 years frame warranty and within the last couple of years they cut that in half like Crossroads did their warranty.

Just found an old photo of a sticker, square black one that says 2-5 on it.

Thats the one! I'm sure the sticker is useless. CR would go by the purchase date. I see you are from texas. I think Dayle1 made arrangments for a lippert rep to meet him at a local dealer to perform the repair. HHH brought his unit in to the factory.Whichever way you go about it; stay on them. Make sure they get it done!
