Bilstein shocks
Anyone running Bilstein shocks on your truck? I have a Dodge 2500CTD with 60K miles, and while I can't say my OEM shocks are bad I"ve read that the ride can be significantly improved with the Blue/Yellow Bilsteins.

Bilstein is OEM on GM trucks. At 60000 they may not be bad but are getting close.

I run the blue/yellow Bilsteins. Wonderful ride and a lifetime guarantee (other than OEM supplied ones from what I gather, could be wrong though). I had a set fail and they were replaced.
I have Bilsteins and heavier duty Hellwig swaybars, front and rear. My crew cab truck handles like a car and actually rides better than our car does.

I've had them on a few trucks and will be replacing the ones on my 350 with Bilsteins.
Never had one fail or leak and they don't seem to fail until 100,000 miles.

Thanks for the replys. At 60K miles I'm not saying I can really feel the OEM's as being worn out but yes they no doubt well be soon. And guess I'm just looking for a little smoother ride. I plan on replacing all 4 shocks with the 4600 series blue/yellow. I'm curious to see if they will make a difference when the 5th wheel is hooked up.
Has anyone done a DIY install on a Dodge?? How difficult?

Go Bilstein 5100s if an option for your truck. Ran Bilsteins in my last three trucks - always get rid of factory by 60,000 miles, they are weak. Ran the blue/yellow model until current truck. The 5100s on current - better yet. They are silver with blue lettering. Lifetime warranty and never needed it. Currently 120,000 miles on my 2011. Changed to Bikstein 5100s at 60,000. Still like new.

On the ford truck forums the mix is about 50-50 between bilstein's and rancho 9000 adjustables and, to me, it seems those that don't tow heavy go with the bilsteins...
I've had the 9000's on 3 vehicles now and they are great when you tow vs not towing... can be super soft or super hard and 9 steps in between with a lifetime warranty...

Talk to me.............why are the 5100's better. Color and lettering are not important to me. From Bilstein website looks as if warranty is the same.

Same warranty. Better quality shock for the heavy duty diesel trucks. It's basically the next model up from the yellow ones. They handle the excessive weight of our diesel trucks that much better.

When you say "next model up" aren't they just stiffer, more aggressive shocks? I'm not sure that makes them better, unless you need them for that application???
Everything I read says they are primarily for vehicles that are often used for off roading or have been lifted. Since they are longer, I'm not even sure they make them for my 2WD truck.

I guess that depends if you are only looking for the quality of ride, softness, etc.. I find with the lousy condition of our roads, stiffer is better and provides more control. No matter what you decide, Bilstein makes a quality shock absorber.

I installed the yellow tops on my 2011 at 21,000 miles. The original ones were shot.
I have air bags on the rear so I did not notice much on the rear - the front was a different story - big improvement.

I have put 20,000 on the yellow tops and they are holding up better than the original shocks.
My 2011 did not come with a steering stabilizer - the brackets were there but no stabilizer. I installed one and I get less "bump" steer.
