Has anyone had a problem with their Atwood water heater mixing valve and if so would you please post your solution. This valve
is a fairly pricey item at $ 235.00 from the RV dealers. I was told there is a way to bypass the valve but not having an ounce of plumbing sense, I would need to see a picture or schematic before I would attempt it by myself. Any and all solutions to the problem are much appeciated.

We have the 10/16 gallon W/H in our PP and knocking on wood have not had a problem with it. I always figured if we had a problem with it I was just going to buy a straight thru connector and take it out. It is really a 10 gallon tank with the capability of producing 16 gallons with the valve adjusted right. I would have to take everything out of the pass thru storage area and take the back wall of it down to get to ours. I did that when we bought the unit to make sure the valve was set correctly.

I had a problem with mine when on vacation this past march in Savannah, ga......I called a Mobile RV repair shopand they took it out andput a check valve there and it works great now even better than before. They only charged $130.The replacement mix valve was going to be $230 plus labor. It only took them about 30 min to do it..
A belated Thank You to all who gave advice on this problem. Busy time of the year for me. I did the bypass trick and it worked great! I now have a different kind of mixing valve (my hand) and it works just fine. A little care needs to be taken as the water temp is extremely hot(about 190f) so unless you want to purchase a new high side thermostat you have to be carefull.
Thanks Again
