New to the forum! Proud owner of a new 2011 CF31RK fiver! Will be towing around our great province of Alberta
this summer. Anybody upgrade their interior lights to LED? I have a tractor trailer unit and installed LED lights throughout the exterior and have seen the benefits of the low wattage and great lighting they have. Just wandering if it's pretty easy or not worth the effort. Less juice on the gen set and battery would be great! Hope to see other Cruiser fans at the campfire!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new 5ver. Go with the LEDs, less drain on the batteries and they don't get hot.

I was wondering about the LED conversion as well. Do you need to change out the entirefixture or can you just change the bulbs over to LED?

Please do a search on the mods page...there is some good advice from some of the others on how to do this...even with pictures and links to where to get them at a good price.
good luck,
Jim

Welcome to the club. As others have said, do a search on these. You can either replace the bulb or entire fixture. It is not a cheap conversion, but if you do dry camping the power savings can be invaluable. I converted mine almost 3-years ago both inside and out. One of the first things I would start with is the brake lights if your are not already LED. Good luck

I converted the bulbs in seven fixtures mainly to reduce the heat load on the a/c. The LEDs are certainly much cooler but are not as bright. Bought 14 bulbs from Amazon for about $11 per bulb. The bulbs plugged right into the existing fixtures without issue.

Welcome to the forum, lots of good people and lots of good information to help you enjoy you new rig.
I installed LED's outside but when I tried them inside my DW did not like the light they gave off. She really likes the warmer color of the original bulbs.

Trailerlife did a good write-up on LED conversions...I think it was the March 2012 issue. Interesting stuff...we've considered changing interior bulbs.

You must not have tried that big LED pad that command puts out. Very warm light.

I suggest getting the new lens with them. They're only $1 each, and they do a good job distributing the light.

Old Farmer, thanks for the information but the link you sent me to has two different plug configurations. I don't have my trailer here at home so I'm wondering if it's the Omega 900 seriesor the Mega Star 800 series?
