De-winterize

Currently de-winterizing my sunset trail and it has one of the new dometic WH-6GEA water tanks. On the back there is just 2 valves and no bypass. Is it simply turn the valves on and that’s it? I’m used to having a bypass and there isn’t one there.

Also is there a trick to getting these plastic cap for the drain to not leak? It’s an aluminum nipple with plastic cap. Plumber friend said pipe dope but the dealer said it shouldn’t need it.

Here's a pic of valve placement.

I swapped out the drain caps for plastic valves.

Same as mark5w: I swapped out the drain caps for plastic valves, so much easier to work with.

The caps should have cone shaped rubber washers in them. No need for pipe dope.

There is no need for any sealant on the plastic plug, just screw it in tight enough to seal.
The valves you have are two way valves, and there is a check valve in the hot water outlet side of the water heater, so the system only needs two valves.
There are a couple good you tube videos that show how the valves work.
