On my 2003 Cruiser I have a smell that doesnt smell like propane. If I turn the tanks off the smell disappears. It is not the refer. I have done the soapy water thing and the propane detector( from CW) No luck . The propane dector in the trailer does not go on indicating a leak . ( it works when my wife uses hair spray) Any ideas?

I'm going to try the soap and propane dectector again. Is there a shut off for the stove?

Thanks for a great forum, Chuck

Hmmm, well between the furnace, water heater and stove there could be quite a few connections to check. Not sure about the shut-off for the stove. Is your detector the one that goes on the tank? You might need to track down a hand-held detector to better check those connections.

You sure it isn't a sewer gas smell that is just a coincidence with the gas being on?

There is not a separate shut off for the stove in our PF36SK. Have had it apart to put in new counters and found none in the cabinetry or below the frame.

We had the same issue.

It turned out to be the Flare Fitting connections to the furnace and water heater.

It was if they had been tightened down so hard that the copper tubing was cut completely through. I replaced them with compression fittings. So far, so good.

Good luck.

I found the major leak. The 1/2 in pipe coming up to the junction of all the flared fittings was leaking at the elbow. I had to cut into the underbelly(i guess thats what you call it) the threads were stripped and packed with caulking. (quality control Crossroads.......)

I replaced the 16 in pipe and 1 elbow. I still have a very small leak that needs to be found,

I have a handheld sniffer and a lot of soapy water. Wish me luck.
