I also switched 2 years ago from the Coleman Road trip to the Weber Q220 and what a difference. I have been debating setting it up to run off the trailers propane since I bought it but haven't done it as of yet. I like to be able to cook anywhere at my campsite instead of having to be close to me propane connection. So I am still on the fence about it

Just do what I did and modify it so that it works both ways - direct connection to trailer or re-attach the regulator via quick connect and hook up to a tank. Now I have the choice, but 99% of the time just hook it up to the onboard propane.

Scott,
Do you have a step by step on that modification?

Im from Kansas and disc cookers are very popular here as well . Everyone should have one! Easy to store as well. For Yankees and city folks there are places you can purchase a ready made stainless steel disc if you dont have access to farm machinery. No offense meant to Yankees , my wife is from Vemont

Come on now, where have you ever seen a stainless steel disc on a farm?
They're all old rusty ones.

Our new Z-1 211RD has the same rear gas port. I understand plumbing, but is that line "high pressure," i.e. straight off the tank, or post-regulator, i.e. low pressure? Even if it were low-pressure, it seems like an adapter to a portable grill's screw-on connector for a 1lb cylinder would work. The grill's regulator wouldn't have any problem letting low-pressure through, right?
Swanny, where did you get that 12 ft hose?

The line in my 300 BH is low pressure at the rear connection
You don't want to put regulator between the connection and grill.

Thanks, OhioMark, but I'm still a little confused. What about the regulator that comes with my Coleman Grill? The one that you adjust the flame with, that a 1lb canister normally screws onto? Surely that one stays. Then you have the first regulator at the tanks on the RV, then the second regulator at the grill itself. Or am I thinking wrong?

No second regulator on the grill. You require a grill that the regulator can be removed like the Weber that can still adjust the flame. The on board ports are all low pressure - after the regulator. If you leave the regulator on the BBQ you wont have enough pressure to use it. It must be removable to work. Almost all camping parts places offer the hoses. See my link above for extra parts required.

Thanks to everyone
OK finally got a grill. Bought a Weber Q 1200 which should fit my needs. Next task will be trying to retrofit it for use with the Zinger camper rear gas connection. I will use wildwildwest post as a guideline. Thanks again to everyone's input. 31 days to start of 2015 camp season.

don't forget to get connections at an rv or propane place, quick disconnects are different from natural gas at home.

I got the Coleman Road Trip and order the part to convert it to low pressure RV hookup on Amazon.com . ~ This Youtube Video Helped. Please use caution and make sure you check all connections for leaks....
Took about 5 Minutes to setup!

Since it has not been offered as an option, this is what I purchased a couple of weeks ago. A great Canadian made Broil King. Best bbq I have ever owned.

Wish I could show you the one I bought at Lowes, but it's not available on line; only in stores. Stainless, two burner, with flame regulators independent of pressure regulator at end of hose. This hose could be replaced with a low pressure hook up for RV, but I keep mine on a propane tank. Use it (the separate propane tank) for cooking, then for propane fire pit later in evening. Mine is a Master Forge LS 1101, Lowes item number 618015. There is a similar one built by Cuisinart. Here is the Home Depot model, without the warming level tray and with less sturdy legs: Nexgrill 2-Burner Portable Propane Gas Table Top Grill in Stainless Steel-820-0033 - The Home Depot
