We took delivery of our 29ss back on 8/4. Prior to heading out on our first (short) trip this weekend I was testing the hot water heater. Started with using the propane. Heated water up fine however the outside of the RV got REALLY hot, just above the exhuast area. Is this Ok / normal or should I be concerned and only use electric to heat the water. I know during the PDI I was told that when showering (or doing anything that would demand a large flow of hot water) that you should be on electric and use the propane at the same time for quick recovery. However not sure know due to the hot side
The burner is right behind/inside the access door for the water heater, and it exhausts thru the door, so it's going to be warm to very warm, maybe even to hot to hold your hand on. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
Thanks , I know the door to the heater would get warm as this is where the exhaust goes out through. However the area above the door the actual wall of the rv was getting warm to hot. Is this ok for the surface ?
Heat rises, so I guess that's to be expected. If you think it's "to" hot and it concerns you, maybe you should contact your selling dealer and run it by them.
