Use a camera

What was I thinking? A standard build on an RV? I just purchased a 2023 Sunset Trails Ultra Lite. I'd just like to know where the leaking will occur....LOL. I just experienced a total of 60 gallon grey water tank (um. that's 30 gal on 2 separate ends of the coach) where 1 of the 30 gals (shower) filled up after 2 showers.. call me a newbie. I want to hook up an overflow line between these tanks....recommended?? anyone done this before? Kitchen sink has 30 gal tank (separate dump station) and bathroom has the other 30 gal that dumps inline with black water. Just not sure this is that important. but before I get in over my head, will drop the questions among the group. I have thought about a portable tank in the event this happens again. Otherwise stay where there are connected sewer.... any thoughts are appreciated...

I mentioned the camera in the title....I have a sewer camera (amazon) 15 feet or so. thought to drill access or pull down a side from underneath to have a look see of what was cooking above.... Not sure I want to lift the skirt and find some uglies...but I have seen some basements of 5th wheels and they look messy too. Grass isn't always greener.

First off... Don't go drilling holes into your holding water tanks. That's just asking for issues.

Secondly, my previous camper had two tanks as well and I had the underbelly down several times to repair something. Personally, I think you'd be asking for further issues by connecting them. Might be best to get a portable tank and use that to dump when required.

For us, we have learned to take shorter showers when camping or do what's called a "military shower" where you just turn it on long enough to get wet and rinse. The on/off switch on most RV shower heads is very handy for doing this.

If we're taking military showers we can typically go for 2 or 3 days (family of 4) if it's just my wife and I maybe 4 or 5. My kids don't typically shower every day.. they're young yet.

The easiest thing to do is to just drain them every few days. Like 007matman said, bad idea to drill into tanks. You have tank montors on the rv, they are new and should be faily accurate.

What model Sunset Trail do you have? It will help others answer your questions if you put your camper model in your signature. How many dump connections does it have?
