Black Tank weight Question
I have a situation coming up in a couple of weeks on a trip to see my Dad in Joshua Tree, CA. He lives in the desert and it is a 4 mile rough dirt road to get to his house where we are parking the RV. This trip will have 4 of use living in the rig for 4 days without sewer hookups. I can dump the grey tanks on the ground as we use it with a garden hose but my question is concerning the full black tank. I am hesitant to drive the rough roads to get to the hi way with a full black tank and then drive 200 miles to next campground. I do have the ability to open the empty grey tanks to equalize the black into the two grey tanks (effectively splitting the weight between 3 tanks) and then flush everything at the next campground. I don't like doing that but isn't that better than taking a chance on breaking the black tank loose on a rough road? Buying a tote is not an option since there is no where to dump it.
Any thoughts?

I'd buy a good tote and a pump. I'd pump the tank into the tote and haul it in the bed of the truck. Go to campground, dump tote.

Why waste money on a pump , just dump black water into the tote while it is on the ground. OP said 4 people in rv..hence 4 people to lift tote to bed of truck.

Stan, if staying at your dad's house, why use the RVs latrine at all?
I would be very hesitant about using the grey tanks in conjunction with the black tanks. IMHO, that would have to be a last resort measure.
Good luck!

Just dig a hole and leave your dad a surprise. J/k
Just use the toilet in the house for #2 and #1 in the trailer then down the dirt road and drain it out away from his house
A little pee will not hurt anything.
Just my $.002

Also, try this site, there might be a dump station closer than you think.

Doesn't your father have a septic system for his house? Find the cap and dump into it even if you have to buy and use a tote.

OK, all good thoughts....but..... Not going to use a tote and there is no septic access. Father is 92 and the house is ....well...not clean. DW will NOT use the bathroom in the house and I won't ask the kids to. There may be a dump station in town (small town no campgrounds nearby) somewhere, will have to look - thanks for the link.
If I go slow, I mean real slow, I should be OK. It's the "should" that I am concerned with.

Thanks John (4kids) for the link. I did look it up and low and behold there is a campground nearby after all. I completely spaced that place out as we don't drive by it on the way to his house. Problem now solved. Thanks to all for the inputs.......

I have to agree with Mark...Or does your dad have an OUT HOUSE, in which case I would buy a product called "sewer solutions" and pump right into the out house...

We Just refuse to clean his bathroom for him. He's old but capable - he just refuses to do it.
We will visit the campground mentioned above on our way out. Not convenient but better than driving any more than I have to on rough roads.

Just have the "boys" go outside and let the women ( if more then one) use the camper potty.
It will keep the weight down and the boys will feel just like they did when growing up...going behind the garage!

OK I get it, your dad is old and doesn't clean his bathroom...In my earlier post I was under the impression his house was so remote he did not have a normal waste disposal situation, meaning sewage disposal of some kind, such as a septic system or public sewage...Now that I have followed this post a little further my original suggestion is still the solution...There has to be a sewer clean out on the outside of your dad's house...I suggest again you at least look at this product for your sewage disposal...
SEWER SOLUTION
If you would like to see how it works go on YOU TUBE and type in "sewer solution"...
