Dish Hopper 3

So, years ago I would take my Direct TV receiver and a small direct dish camping. Had to set up direction with the beep beep beep. Pain in the butt. Fast forward to now-We just switched to Dish and I have a Hopper 3. Can I use a self locating dish( one of the helmet shaped automatic ones). Without paying for extra thru dish. Does anyone know what will work with the Hopper 3. My Dish installer said something about needing a DPH42 switch but wasn’t sure what automatic Rv satellite I would need. Any help would be appreciated.

Could you check with the dish manufacture or the place you are buying it from? We just use the antenna so can't be of much help.

So I don’t think they have a dime shaped automatic that will work with the Hopper 3. Guess now I’m looking for just a portable dish on tripod that will work with the Hopper 3. I can’t mount anything on the roof due to clearance getting in and out of my building. Any help?

Papa-T; we have a Dish Tailgater Pro on a tripod and a Wally (should have went with a Hopper, can't record with a Wally) costs us $7.00 a month as we have Dish at home. Set up is easy, point to the south west, plug it in, turn it on and by the time I get the trailer all setup it's ready to go. Tall trees is the only problem we've run into. Compare Tailgater prices with Dish, Amazon and even Camping World. There is also a mydish app for my phone for activation and deactivation plus handling any issues that may come up. We're very happy with our setup.
