Slide leak repair question?

So found a small leak in our big slide. Was wet under the entertainment center. Got up with a ladder and found the eternabond tape had a tiny hole on the top corner. For right now I put some silicone on it until we return home from camping. My question is when I remove and replace the eternabond tape. Does anyone else go over the edges of the tape with lap seal or anything to reinforce this protected area. Hasn’t rained since I siliconed it. Just a hopeful emergency repair. Thanks

I usually caulk the leading edge of the tape, just to be sure it doesn't start to peel back while driving.

Thanks for posting: Shouldn’t be a problem while driving because the slide will be pulled in. I just didn’t know if anyone ever put lap sealant on top of the eternabond tape or edge?

The problem with your repair is it can leave a film that future repairs will not stick too? and you may find the silicone did not stick properly, so hopefully dry and you can finish quick

Yea the silicone was an on the road repair (Hatteras NC, for the month of October); until I can get home and put the 5er up in the garage for the winter and then do the correct repair in the spring before the first trip next year.

You will probably find that the old tape will not come up easily, and you may very well rip the roof material if you try to remove it. I would recommend that you clean what's there with some acetone, and be sure to get the silicone off, and then use eternabond tape over it.
Some people seal the edges of the tape, and being on the slide, I'd make certain the edge of the tape can't catch on a seal when moving in and out. Hopefully, you can run the tape the width of the slide, so you have no protruding edge.
