It may sound crazy but I found a way to stop the problem. During a camping trip this wkend I helped another camper with a stuck slide on his TT buy using my handy dandypipe wrench. While working on it I had a thought that if the slide bell is round and so is the hole it gets stuck in, what would happen if the bell was oval?????? I talked with the guy and he agreed that would be a good idea. So back to my truck I went for my handy dandy over sized water pump pliers. I crawled under the slide andsqueezed the bell, low and behold I had a oval bell! He closed his slide and the bell had 1/2 inch overliege on the frame in 2 spots. So if your out of warranty and want a fix this should work.

Hey all,
I'm new to the TT Slide world. Can someone explain what the "bell" is. I haven't had a problem with the slide on my TT, but in anticipation of a potential problem, I'd like to know how to fix it if the opportunity presents itself.
Thanks,

If you look under your slide when it is out you will see what looks like a bell in front on the left and right sides of the slide. These are supposed to guide the slide into the final alignment for the "In" position.

I would have liked to see some pictures of what you are talking about, as my under belly is covered and can not see much of the slide mechanism.

If your slide is like mine--- When it's in the out position, I can see "all" the slide mechanism. It's only when the slide is pulled in, that all the mechanismis hidden.

The stop bell is still visible when the slide is closed. It hits against the outside of the frame. It has a bell shape and is generally a gold color. It has a locking nut behind it and is threaded on the slide actuator shaft. Lippert has an adjustment procedure on its lci.com web set if you need to change the closed slide position.

Dale is right, the bell is still visible with the slide in. I guess when mechanism was stated I was thinking strictly of the tubes and rack with teeth and the drive gear.
