Turning Head on Electric Tongue Jack
I was thinking of turning the head on my electric tongue jack 90 degrees. Anyone done it?

I assume this will facilitate lowering the tailgate while hitched?

We installed an ultrafab on our old one, the key is simply lining up the holes. If the holes line up you should be ok. Easiest thing to do is hitch the tt to your TV while you move the Jack.

Thanks anaro. Does'nt say anything in the manual. Looked at a similar model and basically said to turn it with out lifting it. (meaning the head) I am going to try it.

Ours we removed the manual Jack and bolted the new one on so we were able to rotate the whole thing to position it how we wanted it.
Not very good pics but they are all I have and I sold the tt last week so I can't get more.

When I turned my barker , I just loosened the set screws and turned the head only . The 3 bolts on the frame stayed put...

I'm curious to do the same with my jack. I see the two bolts on the side under the rubber plugs but I don't have a long enough screwdriver to take the cover apart to see what's going on under there before I start removing bolts. Anyone know if these are the bolts that secure the head to the tube and gears?

I finally called and then sent an email to Lippert. They said the head is fixed and cannot be done. You cannot turn it in the mount either as the holes will not line up. Bummer.

Does your hitch have any adjustment holes in it? Mine has two setting for depth into the receiver of the truck. It changes the capacity but with mine, both are within the tongue weight limit. Or perhaps you can find a hitch on craigs list that will work for your equalizer but not go in further into the receiver.

Only has the one hole. Either a new hitch or new jack are both around $300 so will probably just live with it for now. Several other things I would rather do first. Thanks.

Yeah, for $300 I could find a lot of other things that need attention.

Keep a foam pad, sponge or rag to put between tailgate and jack , probably the easiest way.
