TV reception(over the air)

We're getting settled into our season lease site.

The good: Lots of trees
The bad: Lots of trees blocking our tv reception.

Cable is not available and I have no interest in satellite. I'm picking up some channels but not the one with the strongest signal. I'm missing both prime channels (2-13) and UHF (13+). The antenna is the Winegard Sensor and I've figured out I can help UHF reception if I add the bat wing attachment. But is there a way to improve reception in less than ideal conditions, including VHF?

If you have a lot of trees blocking your line of site I don't know how you are going to get much reception. Is there any way of putting up a home type TV antenna? The antennas on RV's are not the best in the world to start with.

ha ha ha ... I've thought about cutting but that's alot of woods to clear.

Hunter, I get your drift. I haven't seen it but I talked to my RV dealer via phone. Sez he has a possible solution ... a replacement antenna. What I need is a tall tower with an antenna

We use to have a trailer up at the Chippewa Flowage, and it was a permanent unit.
Lots of trees. I got one of those telescoping tv towers (pipe) about 20 or 30ft long and mounted a regular antenna on it. Sure helped.

Also to dial in the stations, or atleast know where they are at go tohttp://www.antennapoint.com/ and type in the zipcode you are at and it will tell you where the TV stations are at. That way you can point the antenna at the stations and get better reception........maybe

Batwing helps with the DTV, since they use the UHF band. But DTV needs good line of sight, can't live with ghost images as the signal will just drop off if it is not strong enough. The nice thing about trees (as opposed to mountains) is they have a lot of holes for the signals to pass through.





The batwing isa good inexpensive upgrade anyway. So I would do it.

Trying this antenna to see whether there is an improvement. Made sure it worked and went on to the next project. I'll wait for the tv viewer in the family to try it out and tell me which she prefers.

My short flip through the channels I would say I'm not getting more channels but I am getting a clearer signal/lock on the stations. Also the "jack" is very dependent on the direction it is pointed in, where as the Winegard Sensor acted more like the old tv antennas including dropping signals ... probably dependent on the moving branches in the surrounding trees.

If my bride isn't happy with this solution it will be on to a tower and full sized digital tv antenna.
