Water Heater Odour

I have a 2011 Zinger ZT-390-DB. We had to replace the water heater a couple years ago. Since we have this new water heater there is an odour every year. We had put chlorine through the lines and it fixed the problem but the chlorine smell was in the trailer for days. This year it came back about a month after opening for the season. Has anyone else had this issue? What do we try this time?

We did the vinegar thing and also purchased a water tank flush tool. It’s a great little tool. All is good so far. No smells. Thanks Mark

How often do you drain the water heater?

We normally would only drain it at the end of the season. May to end of September

If it's a Suburban brand heater that's a couple years old it's time to replace the anode rod, could be the cause of the odor.

We drain ours after each trip. Never had any odor.

It’s an Atwood so no anode rod.

We are at a permanent site so never move. This is our 11th season here. Never had any problems until last year when we got the new water heater. Did the vinegar thing and it’s fine now. I’m wondering if there was maybe stuff if the heater from factory?? Just glad it’s all good now
