Worn out tires on one side
threads are showing on the right side tires of my 2015 Maple Country. Has anyone had the same problem? Seems weird all four did not wear evenly. Tires on the driver’s side look like they’d last a couple more summers.

Might be an indication of something out of alignment but will need more info. Where on the tire are they worn (inside or outside?), are the tires cupped at all?, has the pressure been maintained? Also is the passenger side heavy? (ie kitchen, multiple slides, etc.). More info will help diagnose possible issues.

Yes, pressures are to spec. The wear is mostly on outside of the wheels. The drivers side tires wearing evenly. Kitchen is on the passenger side, but no slide or bathroom so there should t be too much extra weight on that side

Wheel bearings properly loaded? Tires balanced (unlikely - that's scalloped) but worth a look. Direction that you usually back up. Most favor the right side view back in and it puts a lot of pressure on that side tires due to shorter radius turn?

Maybe you bent the axles.

They been wearing down since I bought the trailer new. So the axels would have come bent in the beginning. Can the wheels’ camber be adjusted?

I think the only way to get the situation resolved, is to take it into a truck - trailer shop that can check to see if they are in fact bent. A shop like that should have the ability to straighten and alien them also.

Axles bent and /or weld point of hub to axle never welded correct. Mine did it and they gave me new axles one size bigger and all is good.

That’s very interesting. Thank you for that info. I suspect the weld point might be the issue.

We’re you covered under an extended warranty? I am thinking a new set of axels is very expensive!

Actually, axles are not as expensive as you think. Anywhere from 225 and up.

I had a problem with the inside of the tires on the rear axle. The axel was bent. Hope this helps.

A bent axle will wear out inner portion of tire. A poorly built axle will wear out outer portion as in OP dilemma.

There is a chance that the axle rotated.

Just a thought now that Mark mentioned it, look at the camber of the axle. Takes 30 seconds to check...We had to have an axle replaced and they mounted it upside down. Wore the tires severely on one side after only 500-700 miles. The arc should be higher in the center and slightly arc down towards the hubs and should be more pronounced with an unloaded trailer. In laymen terms, should look like the axle is slightly frowning..not smiling.
Seems unlikely to happen from the factory but worth checking.

Yes, they do slightly frown. I think they may not have been welded properly where it bolts to the wheel. At least that’s my guess,.

I would find a trailer shop that has a Hunter Engineering laser alignment machine. They will be able to check everything concerning your axle positions. I had mine corrected on my Sunset Trail trailer fairly inexpensively, and Camping World covered it at the time. I’ve also heard some people says they were informed if your axle is bent, it can’t be corrected, a new one is in order. I don’t know why that would be.
Also, how old are your tires? If they’re original to your trailer, they could be around five years old. That’s pretty old for a trailer tire and it would be time for new tires in addition to finding the problem.
You need to find the problem and correct it, but if you end up having minor wearing on a certain tire you can also rotate your tires yearly if they are radials, which would minimize the wear issues. I also have my tires balanced, even though some say it’s not needed.
Good luck!

Thanks for the good info. I live in a fairly remote place, so I may not be able to get a laser inspection of my axel, but will look into it. Tires are 4 yrs old with 10000 Kms. But after the first 3000 I notice the outer right side treads were almost bald! So there is definitely something up with that side. Will start rotating yearly though, no matter what I get down to the axels.
