'X' chocks by BAL

'X' chocks, are they really worth having, do they make a considerable difference in stability ?
Your experiences please.

Thanks in anticipation.

Just my opinion they work pretty good to stop the front to rear movement. The regular wheel chocks would work loose over time and then allow some movement. We have had them for years and if they ever fail would buy more.

I've used them for the past decade and would not be without them.

I agree! Used for about 17 years. Just getting ready to replace mine. I camp at the coast a lot and have about worn mine out.

We have found on our 35' Cruiser they help eliminate the motion of back and forth when you walk longitudinally in the trailer. They are NOT wheel chocks for sloping ground and should not be used for that purpose.

You are correct. They should be used with regular wheel chocks.

They had zero effect on the stability of my 253RB. Waste of money.

That’s surprising. I have a 212RB and the difference is night and day.

I replaced the crap stock suspension withe the MoRyde system. I use the plastic blocks under the stabilizer jack pads so the stabalizer arms don't have to extend so far, and the scissors. Nothing has made a difference. When my dog turns over when sleeping on floor the trailer moves.

I have noticed the new trend of putting a big stack of blocks under the jacks/stabilizers but do not understand it. With the wheels chocked to stop front to back movement the stabilizers just do up and down or bounce. For us the X chocks have made a big difference in front to back movement. I also run my stabilizers all the way down unless we are on grass than I use a board. Maybe you could try a set of the old style jacks https://www.amazon.com/RVGUARD-Trail...083KJ782P?th=1.

Back in the old days we used them before they had the crank down scissors jacks / stabilizers. In fact the first scissor jacks I used were from a car from the junk yard. My uncle welded a mounting plate on then but they were real jacks.

Thanks for the thought. I have enough stuff to carry with me.

I looked at pictures of the model you have. Does your TT have any front stabilizers?
If not, maybe a set of front stabilizers would help.
Here is an example of a TT with front stabilizers.

On a somewhat happier note, I took the plunge and bought a set of the 'X' chocks, not the BAL ones I originally asked about but another style with a front, horizontal extend/retract drive rather than a top vertical mounted one like the BAL system.

So far they are very impressive in both build and operation quality. I'll post a review once I have them in use operationally rather than just a test fit on my drive.

Thanks for all your advice and guidance everybody.

Best regards
