Looking to take my dogs camping and I just had my second child. I'm looking for where to put the dogs (too excitable to put between the kids). My thought was a truck bed cap that only went a few feet into the bed. Has anybody heard of something like this or have any other ideas?
What type of dogs are we talking about?
We keep our Shih-Tsu in the cab with us and the German Shepard is in his crate in the bed of the truck.
I would contact a local truck cap dealer or contact a few manufacturers. I've had both Leer and A.R.E. In the past. They may know what you are looking for. Also would depend on your vehicle.

I had a full Lear Cap on my previous truck and loved it. A short cap is going to limit your truck bed space. Dogs would have more room with a full cap plus you can still haul what ever with full access to your bed, limited of course as to the height of the cap. For those times they are not that hard to take off.
I've been looking at this style. Not necessarily this brand. I have a folding cover that I use everyday but this might work for long trips. Easy to store in the garage when not needed. http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/pick...bWMaAr8F8P8HAQ
It is lightweight. I spoke to a man who has one on a Ford Ranger that he tows behind his class A. He loved it and it's basically boat canvas, so it's strong.
