Thanks for posting the photos. Sure makes me want to plan an extended trip out west for next year. DW and I have been talking about a trip back to Zion Canyon anyway.

I will try to do an album. First I have to figure out how. In the meantime, here is a picture of Oak Creek Canyon from above. You drive through the Canyon on your way to Sedona.

Today we moved to Holbrook, AZ. On the way we stopped at the Meteor Crater and then after we settled in at the KOA we took a drive through the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park. Here are some pictures we took. The first one is Meteor Crater, the second one is petrogliphs, then petrified wood, the last one is the Painted Desert.

Your pictures have brought back many memories.
Back when we went through there, we didn't have the cameras that are available now, and needless to say, we didn't take the pictures we probably should have.
Thank you for sharing and stirring up old memories.

You're welcome! Some of my friends on Facebook have also been to some of the places we are going and it is also stirring up old memories for them.

One thing we have noticed about the south-west is that the scenery changes so quickly! You just go around a hill and suddenly it's a whole new landscape!

AZ. is a state where you can experience all four seasons in one day.
Plus all the different scenery.

Today we drove the western part of the Sam Juan Skyway. The leaves were at their peak, the sun was shining and there was some snow on the mountains. We stopped at Telluride and rode the free gondola to the top of the hill.

Thanks for the support, everyone! We are headed to Santa Fe today for three nights, then we will be winding our way home. We are spending two nights each in Memphis and Nashville. The other days we will be on the road every day.

Here's a great song to get you in the right mindset -->

Last time in Memphis we stayed at the Graceland RV Park and went to B. B. King's on Beale Street. Blind Mississippi Morris was playing and was great! Toured Graceland the next day. The whole enterprise is way commercial but interesting. Went up the street for barbeque. The restaurant will pick you up if you chose. Enjoy Memphis!

We ended up not going to Memphis --- too much rain forecasted and we were doing all outside stuff...

We would not stay around Elvis's place nor downtown,
West Memphis along the river is the best place we've found
http://www.campgroundreviews.com/view_campground_review_details.php?cgid=262Žion=Ar kansas&city=West-Memphis&park=Tom-Sawyer-s-Mississippi-River-Park

While there, do not miss Folk's Folly or Jim and Nicks BBQ on Germantown Pkwy in Cordova.

We were just watching the Weather Channel on TV and this system affecting us is expected to intensify with severe thunderstorms and the potential for damaging hail and possible tornadoes. This is affecting the area where we are and where we were planning to go. The plan now is to get the heck out of here and see Memphis and Nashville some other time, maybe on the way home from Florida some time. Not only would it be unpleasant visiting those places in the rain, but the thought of severe weather does not sit well with us.

So tomorrow we will head to St. Louis, MO, and then go home from there. We can make it home in four days. Sorry to see our trip end so abruptly, but one has to maintain some flexibility in the face of bad weather reports.

We have arrived home. I will do a summary when I get time. There is a lot to do around here right now. The trailer is going in for service on Oct. 27 and I want to thoroughly clean it before it goes in and I have to re-string one of the blinds and re-caulk a bunch of glass cabinet doors.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading of your adventures and seeing the photos. Brings back fond memories of a camping trip I took through the western states with my grandfather when I was in high school. He's gone on to be with the Lord, but the memories remain. We spent three weeks just driving around, seeing the sights, and camping. Beautiful country, it is.
