Double towing

I'm wanting to hook a utility trailer behind my camper. I know the tongue weight on the factory hitch is 300#, but I can't find any weights for the utility trailer in any of my info.
Have any of you guys that double tow come up with any weights for that?

Double towing

I’m new to double towing this year. I pull a 17’ Crestliner aluminum boat with a 90 4 stroke on it with no issue. Hitch on trailer is max 300 lb tongue weight and 3000 lb trailer weight. Boat tows like it wasn’t there. Make sure you have proper tongue weight on that trailer or it will make towing worse than towing one trailer. And assuming lead trailer is a fifth wheel??
What type of trailer are you towing? Do you have any idea of empty weight?

Some rules regarding double towing are as follows.
1) You cannot exceed GCVWR of your truck
2) States and Provinces have different rules on total length
3) GVW of trailers can determine license requirement
4) Lead trailer must be a fifth wheel and this varies
5) Combined weight of trailers cannot be more than twice the tow vehicle weight. (in Manitoba at least)

I can see I should have worded that a little differently.
I should have said, I can't find how much weight I can put ON the utility trailer and be within the limits of the hitch.
I'm in the process of setting up to tow the utility with a UTV on it. Which weighs from 2100 to 2300#. Not sure which figure is correct.
I think you are correct that the trailer weight loaded can be 3000#.

Have you seen where a sway control is needed on the second trailer?

Most utility trailers will have a single 3500 lb axle but that’s not the load capacity. I have a 6x12 cargo that has a GVW of 2990 lbs and weighs just over 1000 lbs. so my load can be 1990 lbs.
You need those specs off your utility trailer before you can load it properly.
Small cargo trailers don’t need sway control when loaded properly ie tongue weight percentage to loaded weight.
It sounds like you don’t know the GVW or weight of the utility trailer.

That is correct. I'm still in the shopping stage of this whole thing.

That setup you have there sounds like it might have a little weight to it also.
Do you know what it weighs when you have all your gear in it?

So when you talked about weight of the UTV, was that just the UTV? Specs on a Triton aluminum 6x12 flat deck is 2400 lb carrying capacity with a weight of 596 lbs. 7x12 weighs 734 but CC is only 2261 lb.
Aluminum trailers would be the way to go. Same size steel PJ trailer is 1300 lbs.
You’re really close to lead trailers towing capacity. Never weighed my boat but adding up specs it has to be around 2700 lbs loaded with fuel. Like I said I don’t feel it and my buddy who follows with his camper on our trips says it doesn’t sway at all.

I did weigh truck and trailer at a scale. Total axle weight was 15,466 lbs. This was on my way to dry camping loaded with water. GCVWR of my truck is 23k lbs.
