Furrion Backup Camera Installation
Anyone installed the Furrion backup camera to a new, pre-wired, trailer?
We're picking up ours on Friday next week and I want to get the backup camera. My question is, do you need to buy the mounting bracket with the camera or is that already on the trailer? thanks

If they are supposedly pre wring it at the factory you'll be very lucky if it was just plug & play. They like to play hide & seek with things like cable splitters, satellite cables, & when you find them it's anybodies guess what exactly they're connected to. Just be sure before leaving the dealer that you can locate both ends & they are connected to one another.

I just installed the Furrion a few weeks ago and my trailer was not prepped like yours. Good for you.
If it is wired correctly from the factory, you will spend more time taking out/putting away your ladder than installing the camera. The plug should be tucked in the housing.
Good luck and let us know how it went.
BTW
Just came back for a cross country trip and the camera worked flawlessly.

Thanks. I ordered the camera yesterday from Walmart and should get it on Friday. Hopefully, our trailer will be manufactured on Thursday next week, and we'll have an opportunity to get the new camera installed!
I went to our dealership and looked at the camera prewired setup on the back of a couple of other trailers. Looks pretty straightforward - we'll see.

Just one recommendation. Wrap a strip of electrical tape around that connection before tucking it back in under the shroud. Moisture can still get in there in a driving rain.

My understanding is that the bracket is already installed, just with a cover plate where the camera sits.
I'll be installing my furrion camera in my prewired Volante this afternoon.
I too got mine at Walmart. They have a really good price!
The installation instructions talk about a fuse connection at the fuse panel that needs to be installed or a switch that needs to be flipped. It's not clear if it's powered by the lights or not. I'll report back on this.

Bought mine at Walmart as well, better price than Amazon. All I need now is a trailer

The install is a cinch. Not even worth a picture. All you have to do is use a small phillips screw driver to remove the 4 screws for the camera cover, connect the power, tuck wires and screw the camera back in.
The power appears to be wired to the camper battery. I have not found the switch or fuse yet. I suspect that the camera power is being spliced in at one of my rear 12v interior lights.

For those folks reading this in the future. On the new trailers you don't need to buy the bracket. Just get the camera. Install is maybe 15 minutes. Camera works great.
In my opinion it's really only good for backing up - thus the name ' backup camera'. I was hoping it would be useful while going down the road but unless someone is right on your bumper you won't see the. You can adjust the camera angle to maybe see farther back but I didn't do that.

Interesting.
I just got back from a 5K mile trip and had the camera on the whole time. Worked like a charm driving. You are right...just adjust the camera.
The fish eye lens does take some getting used to though

I just got a 2018 Crossroads Sunset Trail 28BH. Trying to install the Furrion backup camera but can't seem to get power. The camera works fine when tested via the car power adapter but gets no power when mounted into the pre-installed bracket on the back of the trailer and connected to the wire that's inside the bracket. The car is hooked up to the trailer in case the camera is wired to to car rather to the trailer's battery. Tried putting the car in reverse, no power either. Wondering if anyone knows where the wire is connected - whether there is a switch or a fuse that I need to switch?

Check your fuse box. It may be wired but not fused.

It's been a while for me, but it seems to me that you need to make sure your running lights are on. Turn on the headlights and see if that turns on the camera.

Please tell me Crossroads didn’t wire the camera to the running lights.

Lights were on as the car was running and headlights are automatic.

All the marked fuse slots are already fused. See attachment.

Mark, I've only had the trailer and camera for 2 trips thus far, but if my memory is correct, my camera only comes on when I'm in reverse, or when I have my running lights on. So, if I want to use the camera while going down the highway, to check the bike rack for example, I need to have my running lights on.

My trailer is older and I had the wire it myself. I went the “lazy” route and wired it to the running lights. I guess I’m jut disappointed Crossroads did the same thing despite having the opportunity to wire it “right” before assembling the wall.

Regardless these cameras are indispensable. I’m impressed with the signal quality when driving.

I agree, they are handy and we have never had an issue with the signal either. It's going to take me a while to get use to using it though after years of relying on my mirrors and my backup captain - wife!

Where did you mount yours? Can you please provide an image?
Thanks in advance.
