Hi Folks: I am currently looking at a CF 335SS to buy. Any opinions on the Fireplace option that most of the new ones seem to be equipped with? Any thoughts about Pros or Cons would be appreciated.

Also: What does the A/B switch on the fireplace do??

Thanks in advance

The electric f/p puts out 5000 watts of heat. It can supplement the gas heat,by not letting it run as long or often. The A/B switch is designed to run with a remote, that only turns it off & on, to what you have set. There is another switch that allowsyou torun the heat with the ambience of the fire logs, just run the heat, or run only the fire logs, for the ambience only. I installed ours & we love it.

We have one in our Seville and use the heat just to take the chill off on a cool morning (not that we've had any recently...but one always hopes). The backlit and simulated flames is nice when setting reading of an evening. I'd do it again if we bought another.

We have a fireplace in our PP and like it for the burning logs effect. It does a great job of keeping the chill down but not a replacement heat source. I would vote for a option I would like.

add one more to the 'yes'. Its been mentioned already but I think the biggest advantage is that it saves propane. I use the FP to heat the main area of the trailer and a 1500watt micro furnace for the bedroom. I never use the furnace. I fire it up in the spring and fall to make sure it still works and thats it. The furnace sucks a lot of propane (or $$$)...... use hydro, its included with the camp site. I also don't usually camp when temps are below freezing.
Its a nice item when entertaining too!

I would not give up the one we have. With a little chill in the air it really adds a lot of comfort.

We like ours, and use it as everyone else does. My only complaint with it is on the Sunset Trails, we can either run the fireplace, or the electric element in the HW tank. I would have preferred to trade off the A/C or something else that has a high power draw as opposed to the HW tank. Could be that nothing else draws the same kind of power, but that's my only beef.

I used storage space to put one in mine. We like ours and use it a lot. Even been known to turn on without heat just to see the flames.

When it's to hot outside for a real fire it's nice to have the air condioning on with the"fire" inside. We put one in our becausewe loved the 5'ers with them and we had a "dead"are under the closet (infront of HW heater/pump ). We run the light mostmornings & evenings. And the heat whenever it's cool and we are plugged in.

Why do you say this? Does your main breaker trip or the pedestal breaker trip?

No. There is a wall switch that selects one or the other....30amp service in these travel trailers.
