Brakes got pretty worn out going thru the Rockies this summer, so I was starting to replace the brake shoes. First one I pulled, the adjuster had come apart and destroyed everything except the backer plate. I replaced the shoes, magnet and adjuster on that wheel.

The next one I pulled, everything was OK but I had no brake on that wheel. The adjuster was "frozen, so I took it out and fixed it. Now I have good brake on that wheel. It was not worn out because the electrical connection was broken by the blow-out I had in Illinois. So it is good because it did not work for most of the Utah trip..

I checked the brakes on the other two. One has good braking power. The 4th has some, but I ran out of time. I have one set of shoes to put on and another set on order. I also have one magnet in case I need it. But it will all have to wait until after this trip.

Here's hoping they work well. Took all day yesterday. Not alot of fun either.

One of these years we will get down there for this rally. But not this year as my son has a trophy race on Sunday for his Quarter Midget and these count towards the points for the year and we are trying to improve from 9th place where we are now. I hope all have a safe and enjoyable trip. We hope to be back to the North East Rally in May.

I too have a brakeissue of sorts but it isn't from the trailer, my P3 LED screen is dead, working on getting that replaced. As for the TV, just had a service engine light come on fri afternoon. Looks like it is my exhaust system somewhere between the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter. They said it would be a 5 hour job just to tear my truck apart to the point they could pinpoint my leak. They said it would be ok for the trip and just bring it back in a couple of weeks for the repair. Not a fun repair and it will hurt the old wallet but at least it won't disrupt the trip.

As for the food, I will probably do the ribs friday night since we are gonna have all this wonderful smoked meat on sat. I'll plan on macaroni salad and cookies for sat and do waffles w/ the wafflemaker both mornings.

We are getting pretty revved up about the trip. Preparations have already begun. See everyone soon!

Tommy, we live in Strasburg and we are going to take Rt.30 to #283 to the turnpike to #81 south. It's about 10 miles longer but 15 mins. to half hour shorter on time. Just thought I'd let you know another way to go.

any time I go south on Rte 81, this is how I go from York. The only hill is into Harpers Ferry.
I plan on leaving York about 10 AM Thursday...takes about 2 1/2 - 3 hours from here.

I haven't been that wayin almost 20 years but I remember that being a heck of a steep hill getting in and out of Harpers Ferry. Not sure what the other route looks like though.

Thanks Anaro and Steve, I'm in Coatesville and need to take Rt.30 to start out no matter what. I was just looking for the best route, and thought I throw it out on the forum. We liked the drive to Gettysburg, and thought it was just a little farther to Rt.81 just past Chambersburg. Checked Map Quest, and GS travel planner. Thought I'd give the people that "been there done that" a shot. Thanks again. We will be there Thursday.

EVERYONE,

PLANS FOR RALLY.....
Since most everyone is arriving Wednesday and Thursday lets all plan to have a group breakfast Friday morning and a wine and cheese/appetizer gathering Friday evening around 4:30 pm for those who are interested....Another group breakfast is planned for Saturday morning and our regular Potluck Dinner Saturday around 6-6:30pm...

We will plan our group breakfasts for about 9:00am both Friday and Saturday....Generally Friday evening meals are not "organized" as a group function...

For Friday & Saturday breakfasts Emmy and I will bring eggs and hashbrowns...
Saturday dinner we will be smokin a boneless pork lion and provide a sweet potato cassarole...

We also plan to bring some firewood...

On the route: I do the 283 - 581 - 81 or, sometimes I do the 283 - Turnpike - 81. Much faster and less frustrating than Rt. 30.

Stan - if you didn't buy the pork loin yet, I recommend you switch to a pork shoulder roast or butt roast. Loins these days are so lean they tend to dry out, especially when slow cooking. The added fat in the shoulder or butt roasts helps keep the meat moist and adds flavor. Just MHO.

I'll bring smoked sweet balogna for the Friday Happy Hour and the requisite hot Italian sausages for breakfasts.

Still thinking about Friday dinner...

Hickory...Apple...either, or both. Depends on what rub you decide to use.

If you bring apple, bring 3 or 4 apples along also. We can cut them up and throw them in the water pan to add apple flavor while cooking.Edited by: RKamperRV

Ann and I are looking forward to camping with the Mason-Dixon bunch for the first time this coming weekend (even though we have a Coachman). Ann will post what we will be adding to the group meals later this evening. Thank you to Stan and Emmy for the invite!

Rosie is planing on bringing fried cabbage made with veal and kielbasa, and a peach pie, for the dinner. For breakfast I was thinking of cooking some sausage. We will bring wine and spinach dip for the afternoon get together. You guys make it hard to think of something different to bring to these things. Oh thanks Rick for the 283 Rt. looking at all those routes.
