Campground suggestions?

I'm looking for campground suggestions for New England, New York, or Eastern Pennsylvania. We like larger, private sites, like electric and water hookups but don't mind dry camping, don't care for resorts and crowds. Bob is retiring this June so we have a lot of flexibility this year! We have a 26' Crossroad Cruiser. I need sites that can be easily backed into or a pull-through. If you have a favorite campground, please suggest good sites!

Thank you all!

Linda

You might want to try Twin Grove Resort & Cottages in Eastern Pennsylvania...Don't let the name scare you away...Very nice campground...Check them out on the web...We held the Northeast Crossroads Rally there the last two years...We occupied rows Y (back in), X, V, and R (pull through)...

When you're up here in NE, try Normandy Farm's in Foxboro MA. Also Salisbury Beach state park in Salisbury MA. 5 miles from Hampton Beach NH.

Two of the best camping trips my wife and I ever took were to Bar Harbor Maine. In addition to Acadia National Park and being a beautiful area, there are endless activities. Also there are or were free buses that picked up and dropped off at all or most of the campground and hotels/motels on the main roads.

The first time we stayed at Mt. Desert Narrows. We had a site that backed up to a cove. My wife and I were sitting outside watching Bald Eagles flying over the cove when someone, stepped out onto an outcropping of rocks and started playing Amazing Grace on the bag pipes. It was an amazing week.

The second time we stayed at Bar Harbor Campground. I want to say this is the place where you can't make reservations, it's like a land grab, but this was probably 15 years ago. In the morning they open up to new campers waiting for sites. We were hoping for full hook ups as we were staying a week. We ended up choosing a water/electric site that overlooked the bay. It was such a beautiful site that we canceled the reservations we had in Old Orchard Beach for the second week and stayed in Bar Harbor, (Bah Habah, lol). We used water sparingly, used the bath house for showers. I think I had to hook up once and go to the dumping station one time during the two weeks but it was worth it.

When we give up our seasonal site and decide to travel again, this would be one of the first places we would go before getting out of the snow belt. Good luck!

Thank you SeanRN! mt. Desert Narrows sounds like a dream. Bar harbor campground sounds great too! We camped there at Acadia two years ago, and like you, were very impressed with the area.

Bar Harbor is heavenly. Years ago I had a couple of Jet Blue vouchers and I was mad at them for a service issue. My wife and I decided to fly as far as we possibly could, but then we dialed it down one click. We could have flown to Bermuda, but the joke would have been on us because it's so insanely expensive to vacation there. So we chose to fly from LAX to Portland, Main, and then travel up and down the coast. Bar Harbor was the most amazing surprise for us. The location was gorgeous and the people treated us like VIPs. I still buy tea online from a little shop there.
