Unfortunately, that won't work for me Lloyd. My problem is with the bolts that attach to the leaf hangers not the shackles. Those bolts were already pressed into the shackle when I originally received them, see pic in post #7. Appears they have made some improvements since y'all did this a few years ago.

After going back and looking, I see what you mean. You do have more threads left on the bolts if you do get them pulled in, right?
I thought at first maybe some of the bolts were longer then others and they had messed up and pressed some bolts in where they don't belong.

Yes, I have plenty of threads on the other end.

- The C clamp method didn't work, the bar that is used to screw it down bent
- Then tried using a 2.5# dead blow hammer...nothing
-Lastly, I tried using rhe impact gun, thought it was working until the threads stripped and now the bolt is useless.

Not sure what to try next, but it's getting too hot out there to keep messing with it, time for a frosty beverage, Cheers!

Didn't recommend impact cause that is what my dealer did on the first few bolts and stripped them. So did the c clamp and worked like a press.. take nut off and you can even use a 3/4" pipe a bit longer than bolt threads instead of socket. How about trying a pulley puller on the bolt head and the shackle it is going I to?

Take a file and lightly file the splines, then a little grease to help set them. May work.

Well, as the saying goes, if at first you dont succeed, get a bigger hammer...or in my case a bigger C clamp (aka Ball Joint Press)

Worked like a champ.

Also since I needed a new wet bolt and I had planned to install the X-Factor Cross Member anyway, luck would have it Tweety's RV had one in stock.

All finished, what an ordeal. Glad have completed the job on my own with a little help and advice from y'all.
Unfortunately my test tow and bath time will have to wait, I'm beat and it's beer thirty somewhere... Cheers!!
To be continued...

That's quite a C clamp! Wow!
OK, what's a X-Factor Cross Member?

By the way, congrats on getting a tough job done.

Yes sir! Saw another guy using that in another video and said I gotta have that. Picked it up yesterday from Habor Freight for $60, figured that was less than the cost of a mobile mechanic.

Also, here's the part number for the wet bolt nut lf you ever have to replace them. Got this from Morryde. Made a few calls locally and got referred to a trailer place that had them in stock for $0.99 each. I picked up a few spares.
These are 1 time use nuts:
7/16 x 20 locking flange nuts, Zinc coated
Part number 006-092-01

No problem, since this is something new for wide stance setups I, just wanted share anything I learned along the way.

It was fun doing it, but man I'm worn out.
