Options for useless stock oven
So,
Talking to my better half about the wasted space the oven takes up in our 300BH.
Actually, we don't use the cooktop either. I find cooking anything inside our trailer is like a dance with death given the tight space and the concept of open flames in a wooden box assembled with glue.
We've not used the Atwood oven in this or any of our previous trailers after using it once only to find that ot took 1/2 hour to warm up and was so poorly insulated it ran constantly and had hot spots.
Anyways, we've considered going electric (although 110v toaster ovens are not ideal)
Found this..
This looks like an option.
Anyone else done this or similar mod?

We cook all kinds of stuff inside, Great for when its raining. We have even baked cakes in the oven. I use a pizza stone to help evenly cook the stuff in the oven without burning the bottom

It's strictly decorative for us but we do use it for storage !
We use the microwave and restaurants most of the time
We are recreating and don't want the prep/cooking/cleanup/etc... !
How about getting an induction cooktop - no heat/flames ?

Really?! You bake cakes in your camper. That's admirable. I can't bake a cake right at home!
How'd you keep the camper from heating up? I found the vented range hood can't keep up with the oven on.

I hear ya on the recreating..
We mostly grill out and yes, I already have an induction cook top. Amazing appliance since it does not heat up.
We actually use the gas range (covered) as a resting place for the toaster oven and ice maker. The ice make actually is too heavy..bent the frame becuase the range/oven combo isnt supported from below.

Sorry Mark - we use our oven. Brownies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, etc.
I did turn the rack around so it sits inbetween the 2 height locations. This made a big difference. Heat - hey. I am an Ohiaun. We use any heat we can get.

OK,
so we established I'm a lousy baker.. he he
Good info on the racks. That is a good idea. I can see looking at where the burner is positioning it in between would help with the hot spots.
To my credit, I've been told I make a mean pulled pork,so that should account for something.
I'd just like to find out if anyone out there pulled their oven and did something different.
Next rally you bring the cookies and Ill bring some BBQ..deal? I promise to show up next time.

Sounds fair to me! Love me some BBQ.
We weren't there either. Rally arrival depends on truck purchase. Likely not before next rally, either . Soon though!

Best thing to cook in those dinky ovens...baked potatoes! You pretty much can't screw those up regardless of the uneven heat! Just my 2 cents.

Just wrap those taters in foil and toss them in the campfire.

I bake my deserts in the Dutch oven. A little cast iron stored in the front compartment helps it tow better too. Made a real nice pineapple upside down cake, cobbler, doing baked cinnamon apples this weekend.
About 10 to 12 coals on the bottom and 15 to 18 on top. Bakes a mean deep dish pizza too.

We find ours works well for cinnamon buns, baking bread, buns, etc. My wife raised the rack one place up and sets the temp 25 degrees lower - 325 usually and uses it for all the baking. Also make french fries and tator tots in it. When you are on the road for a month you need some diversity in your meals!!

Thanks for everone's comments.
So, to summarize, I've learned:
1) I can't bake desserts
2) I have at least three options to bake potatos when camping
4) A slight reconfigure of the racking system helps with hot spots

I have seen many recommendations to leave a pizza stone in the oven to even out the temps.

I consider it an adjustable shelf storage unit.
