Underbelly Attachment Hack

I've heard of underbelly panels coming off, and when I got mine, 2 of the Ramset nails were missing. After 3 trips, another 6 were gone. Hope no one got a flat.

I've been going through and generally checking stuff, cleaning up shoddy workmanship, by dropping the panels and then reattaching.

Dealer had cut a few holes, and taped them up, claiming it was the "only way". Nah, get rid of those ramsets and replace with 5/16" gasketed self tappers. Over the next year, I am going to re-route my propane line, remove and reinstall the levelers, install better insulation, bundle the wires, etc. But I plan to have all of the ramsets replaced before the next trip.

Quick video I did to illustrate the hack. https://rumble.com/v1275ih-r-and-r-u...y-ramsets.html

All that should definitely help and be a big improvement.

I'm curious as to why you call it a "hack"?

A "hack" is any trick, shortcut, skill, or method that increases productivity or efficiency. Slang defintion.

Yes, I guess that would be a slang definition.
I would refer to it as a mod or improvement.
Anyway, it does sound like you are improving on the original product.

I had to replace most of my coroplast underbelly on my trailer as it was split and torn in a number of places. I used the 1" x 5/16" self-tapping screws (predrilled holes)and used 1 1/4" fender washers. The washer takes the strain off the coroplast around the screw hole and prevents it from tearing.

Once I got the underbelly off I got to see the mess of what was inside. All the electrical wires were laying loose and bouncing around on the top of the coroplast and rubbing along the frame where they were fished through. There were a number that had to be re-spliced. I used split tube to protect them and zip tied them to the frame. Also all the heating ducts were split and I replaced with metal ones.

Good luck on your project.

I hope to be able to replace all of my coroplast with wrapped insulation board before it all comes off. I have fixed up the split, missing fastener areas already. It is going to be a project over time to redo the whole underbelly.

I had to replace half of my coroplast on my Zinger ZT260BH when it cracked over the winter. The stuff I got from the dealer was way better than the crap on the camper. A little thicker and a lot stronger.
