We have a 06 cf30qb. I just put a brand new battery in it the other day. Had everything turned off, returned a week later and the battery was dead. Any idea on what could be drawing the power. We just bought it so I'm still learning about it. Thanks for all the help.

Do you have a battery switch? If not you may want to install one. Even with everything turned off the CO2 detector and a few other electronics still pull power off the battery.

You also should check your lights in the pass thru storage. I had a switch go bad. One light was on when I went out yesterday. That will drain your battery in a hurry.

Hunter11, Thanks that is such a simple idea that I never thought of. I am going to install one today. That is why this forum is so great. As a newbie to the RV world I relay on the forums for help. Thanks again.

It's amazing how fast "shut-off" electronics will drain a battery. My vette will drain the battery in about 30 days of no use and the 5er is about the same. On the trailer I pop the battery cover and disconnect the negative battery lead. Haven't gone the shut off route yet.

Isn't it a good idea to put in a switch even if the camper is plugged in all the time? The chargers in campers don't turn off when the batteries are full so over time will evaporate out the battery fluid.

If you install a battery switch be sure you do not remove power from the brake away switch. If you were to forget to turn on the switch before towing you will not have brakes in case the trailer were to separate from the TV. This could cause serious legal problems if someone were hurt or there was property damage from a run away trailer.

Thanks for that heads up I hadn't thought about that. Maybe it would be wise to run a line directly from the battery to the breakaway switch. Has anyone done this?

My BIL was just having this same issue with his TT. After hours of searching for a dead short or a bad light etc. he was about to crawl around the under side and found his breakaway switch was pulled out just enough to active the breaks. This drew down a fully charged 12v battery within a few hours. He said he may have caught the loop on his safety chains and hadn't noticed it as his TT was just sitting in his driveway.

Ok, I installed a battery disconect on the negative terminal. Put a fully charged battery in and had the battery disconected via the newly installed disconect. Returned a day later and the battery was nearly dead. What the heck is goin on?
