No power to slide

I didn't want to say anything because it's going to make me sound stupid but here it goes. We bought a 2005 Cruiser from a dealer last fall and will be taking it out first time at the end of the month. It only has 1 slide and it worked fine when we winterized it. I tried the slide today and there was no power to it. I called the dealer where I bought it and he asked me if I had put the battery back in. I didn't yet and he said in 2005 they have 2 power feeds where battery is and they have to be touching. I did as he said and slide works great. I originally had it connected to shore power so it baffled me why I had to have battery in or the 2 black leads touching. Now I know why. Power is backfeeding from battery location.

Hey, don't feel bad about it.
I don't think there is a one of us on here that hasn't screwed up at one time or another. Lessons learned on your own tend to stick with you longer, and there are are lot of lessons on these RVs for all of us to learn.
