Has anyone had any success baking in a Travel Trailer Oven? We have a 2009 Jayco G2 which we have traded in for an Cruiser CT28RKX and have not taken delivery yet.
I have tried baking in the Jayco oven with no luck....no even cooking at all.
I tired putting a round pizza brick on bottom of oven to disperse heat evenly. Didnt work.
Any suggestions? wonder why they dont just take those out and put convections in? such a waste and the knobs for the propane are in BAD place. My little G-kids go by and accidently hit them or purposely turn them???? had that happen twice.
My suggestion to RV MFG is to place those knobs on top in the back of the oven. Just my 2 cents.

I've baked cookies a couple of times. A bit uneven but if you watch them closley they turn out ok. It's great to eat fresh cookies by the campfire.

As far as I know my wife uses hers as much as she needs without too much trouble..
AS far as putting the knobs in the back ,That is a real no no ASREACHING ACROSS the burners when in operation is an accident waiting to happen..

I have baked cinnamon rolls (pillsbury) using the, disposable, E Z Foil pans. The cinnamon rolls turned out great. I tried cranberry bread in a regular bread pan, not so good. Going to try a disposable pan next timeand see if it turns out better, or try setting the oven 25 degrees cooler than the recipe calls for.

We only use ours when baking freshly picked blackberry pies. Haven't noticed any uneven cooking, especially since we're campin'.

Buy an oven thermometer and check the actual temperature in the oven. Our Sprinter and both of our Crossroads trailers all had ovens 20-25 degrees hotter than the knob was set for. We set temp 25 degrees cooler, use a pizza stone, and rotate the item a quarter turn about half way through the baking time. Most everything comes out okay.

Biscuts for biscuts & gravy, cookies, brownies, & pizza all done frequently with no issues. I guess my wife is just a "magic chef" (but she does use the "airbake" brand cookie sheets.

Maybe that response makes a lot of sense to use the EZ foil bake pans and sheets....
never thought of that....probably evens out the heat....
I justhave to be able to do some goodies fresh for the 7 gkids at deer camp....
Best thing we ever did was buy our first trailer and some of our kids and nephew did too...those kids have had the time of a life time at deer lease....6 out of 7 have killed a deer and fished and just had real life fun in the wild...calling owls and coyotes at night....
cant beat real life fun.....

We have used our oven for baking cheezy potatoes and at the rally my wife made homemade blueberry muffins and they turned out perfect. I say you try yours and make the decision after you do. We don't anticipate problems until they happen and we're happy with the big oven ours has.

I have done the occasional biscuits, cinnamon rolls and used it as a warming chamber to keep the foil pack meals warm while I am finishing up the rest of the meal.

We have cooked pizza, rolls, tater tots, pork chops - tends to run a little hotter than the thermostat dial - set it about 10 to 20 degrees lower.

We found a toaster oven that fits nicely inside the oven after I made a few mods to it. No need to use up my expensive propane when using the campground power works just fine.
Oh yeah, my DW has used it once just for fun and to see if it works. It still looks as new as the oven does

My wife finally fiqured out to set a wide cookie pan upside down, under the pan your baking in. She said it evens out the heat and she doesn't burn anything.

Only used ours once for a pizza, it worked OK but we have a good sized convection toaster oven that we use for biscuits, rolls, pies or casseroles. Ditto on the pots and pans storage area.

Our's works good, in both the old TT and the New 5'r. A couple of little tricks can make a big difference---try putting un-glazed tiles in the oven to help dispurse the heat--put them on the flat surface between the flame and the rack, prior to doing that it was very hard to keep things from burning. Also set your timer (what ever that is, we use the one on the Microwave) for 1/2 the baking time at that point rotate the dish just the oppsite so what was in front is now in back (these ovens seem to tend to have hot spots as well). We have baked many things in our ovens and after we started doing the above everything comes out really well. As mentioned you may want to check the oven temp, sometimes the temp dial isn't very accurate. Keep trying, there is nothing like warm cookies or cobbleron a cool night around the campfire, or a hot breakfast casserole in the morning.
