We are looking at upgrading our current hide-a-bed mattress with an air mattress. Can anyone tell me their experiences with having an air mattress in their sofa? We currently have the thin mattress that came with the trailer and have put a small memory foam on top of it. Over the last five years it now dips in the middle and is hard for two people to now sleep comfortably on this bed. We probably have approximately 180 sleeps on the current hide-a-bed. My concern is; are we going to have problems when we upgrade to an air mattress?

When we had our '07 Cruiser it had the fold out hide a bed with the thin mattress. Went to Walmart and bought a queen size air mattress and laid it on top of the thin mattress when we had someone sleeping over. Worked good. Quick to inflate and take down. Our '10 Cruiser has the air mattres hide a bed which is a totally different type bed. We actually like it better.

The hide-a-bed in our 2003 Cruiser was HORRIBLE!!

The 2010 came with the air matress. It takes a little longer to set up and take down, but my daughter likes it much better. It can be adjusted for firmness also.

Taking care in deflating, folding up, etc. will make them last very well.

We did the same thing. WE bought an "AIRO-BED". We lay it on top of the mattress and it is very comfortable. If it gets a hole in it dosen't cost much to replace. If you get a hole in the mattress that is attached to the couch it could be costly, not to mention you would have to sleep on the floor. If the air-o bed gets a hole in it you still have the thin mattress to sleep on. That's my story and I'm sticken to it...

I have a sunset trails trailer with air mattress sofa...takes too long and too much noise to set up. Someone in mods section has picture of pullout sofabed bought at Ikea...a little narrower than one now but it just unfolds. Thinking of getting one for ours. Cover is not pretty but can get one made. About $299 depending on mattress firmness. Google ikea and then sofa beds. I think it is called Murfo.

The good thing about the AIRO-BED is it costs about $45.00 inflates fast deflates just as fast, packs away in its own storage bag. We put some bed sheets on it and have used it every time the grandkids camp with us. They say it is very comfortable. Grandkids are in their teens now, so the same as adults sleeping on it.
