Rv cover

Hello all I have my first rv 2020 sunset trail 253RB and have been toying around about getting a rv cover for winter/summer. Is it a good idea to get a cover or will I get mold on my camper with a cover designated for RV's? Can anyone suggest a good option for a good cover?

A lot of the covers on the market now are breathable so I don't think mold is an issue anymore. They are work to put on and take off. I don't think it's a one man job, but I don't know that for a fact. If you have down spouts on the camper, chances of breaking those are pretty good. They claim that their always moving in the wind and that creates chaffing on the corners and other areas they rub on. In my opinion, they are expensive for what you get, and the life spa isn't all that long.

With that being said, there are people out there who really like them.
The best option is a building, if you are able to swing it financially, and have the room for one..

I'm sure an rv cover is like most things, you get what you pay for so I would make sure you get a quality proper fitting cover. I had a friend buy a universal cheaper cover and after one winter it was very tattered and had broken his rain gutters off.
I don't know what your situation is but we went with a steel rv/car port and am very happy with it, but you have to have the space for it.

Covers are large and heavy and a real pain to take on and off. I've owned several. For my travel trailers, it took work as others have pointed out to put on and take off.

A pool noodle cut in 3" pieces work well for the gutters/downspouts. You'll want to cover them. A tennis ball works well too. Just cut a slit in it the shape of the end of your downspout.

You may think you can put it on and take it off by yourself.. don't. Two or three helpers really are a good idea. Every time I damaged mine it was when I was doing it by myself. They are just too large and will get snagged on something.

I really liked the Adco Tyvek cover similar to these.

They make them in all sizes.. make sure you measure your RV.

And in addition to being a pain to take on and off, the cover will be over your solar panels so no battery charging.

My 253RB is in covered storage in an RV storage lot. I park under a metal roof therefore my solar panels don't "see" the sun. I have a portable solar panel on the ground by my trailer hitch that gets full sunlight in the afternoon. My batteries stay charged.

In addition to the 2 solar panels possibly getting damaged by a cover, there are also the 2 AC units, the 2 roof exhaust vents, the antenna, and the black tank vent port.

I did purchase a cover from carcover.com. I haven't put it on yet. I'll be winterizing it before installing it. I'll let you know how it fits. I bought the gold shield 5L

I installed the rv cover by myself and it was very easy to install. Rolled it on the ground, carried it on roof, rolled it out, threw sides over the sides. Very good quality, let's hope it hold out for many years.

I'll have to put it on by myself so I'm glad to hear you were able to do that too. I think I'll order one. Did you get the 24-27 or the 27-30?

I got the 27-30 because mine is 28.5'. It's a tad big but it gathers on the end pretty good. Even held up to our 20-35 mph winds the last 2 days.
