A surprise
A surprise in the weeds!
We have been busy cleaning up storm damage around our place since we got home from our trip out to WA. Haven't had time to get the garden planted until today. (Lawn hasn't been mowed for a month either)
I came out of the shed and started for the garden, cutting across by the LP tank when I got my surprise. This little fawn jumped up. I had almost stepped on it. I quickly reversed course so he would maybe settle back down where mama had left him. I watched from over by the garage and sure enough, he wobbled back over to where he had been and laid back down.He stayed right there until mama came and got him later. I could walk back and forth to the shed from the garden and he stayed put.
I was even able to get a couple pics from a distance.
Boy, what a treat!

Beautiful! Thanks for the pics Lloyd!
A few days ago I was working on our air conditioner. About five feet away is a little three sided shed I made for a generater, which is currently in our large storage shed. All of a sudden I heard a huge noise and a big buck jumped out from there. If his antlers were fully grown he wouldn't have fit. Got my blood flowing for a few seconds.

Lloyd, I've seen one here last week. Guess they all arrive about the same time regardless south or north.

You know, many of us tow our trailers 100's or 1000's of miles to get to places to see things like this, and here it is in your yard
Thanks for sharing, and maybe your place should be our next destination!

We were on our way to church and out of the woods comes mama doe looking back. She stopped in the road and so did we. Then out comes the fawn, taking 10 steps to mama's one, across the road they go. Really cute.

I was driving home from the store the other day around noon, and there was a spotted fawn standing on the near the road at the edge of the woods. I didn't notice it until I was about 50 feet away. I kept my fingers crossed that it would stay put as I passed at 60 mph.

I meant to put these up awhile back, but didn't get it done.
Backyard pics.
There was two grey fox back there this morning, but I wasn't able to get any pictures of them.

I get foxes, deer, coyote, snowshoe hare, and black bear in my backyard. Love the wildlife until I forget to close the garage door and a bear wanders in to check out the buffet in my freezer (twice).

You will have to get a bigger freezer to accommodate them.

Ours is a stand-up freezer. Both times the bear opened the door without doing any damage..no claw marks, nothing. Like, someone is doing a clinic to teach bears how to do it. Also, both times we heard the bear in the garage and hollered him out of there. We've since taken greater precautions and had no intrusions.

Russ, I think you missed the point of my last post.
If you get a bigger freezer that he will fit into--problem solved.
Plus you will have some good eating.

What I was thinking too lloyd
you do know that bears learned how to open car doors a long time ago!
they probably will be doing garage doors soon

I thought you meant expand the menu.
Got paw prints but, thankfully, no claw marks on the outside of my cedar garage door as if it was trying to push its way in. Hasn't quite figured out the keypad on the side!
