Hey Rrizz, as noble as it may seem, opting out of the vaccine when it's your turn is not a good idea. My DW is a critical care worker, so I am kept well aware of the events with Covid. When you get vaccinated (for anything), you are not only protecting yourself, but your family and loved ones around you. The vaccination schedule is (supposedly) aimed at getting the most vulnerable and at-risk people first, so when it's your turn, it's important to get your shots.

The PA health department earlier this week announced that they were moving the 65+to the 1A group and we could get the vaccine now. Next day I got an email from our county emergency services department saying they were working on the logistics of adding the 65+ group and that we'd be hearing more in a couple of days. A couple of days later I got another email from them saying, essentially, we're overwhelmed and you're on your own. So, I checked the state's info and contacted my primary care group ... I got an appointment for March 31.

Thanks, Lloyd. Very good perspective.

Update: Thanks to my daughter-in-law, a healthcare social worker, I was able to get a vaccination appointment for Jan. 29. She didn't pull any strings, but she has access to data on providers that I may have never found on my own.

Thanks Lloyd. I'm going to have my daughter and grandson's watch this video to help them understand what my grandparents and parents went through.

Update...Got second Moderna shot last Friday, arm started getting sore later that night. Minor chills set in about 10:30, set the electric blanket higher. Woke to major muscle aches and stiffness which started to subside around 2PM. Still felt fatigued. Woke today, Sunday, feeling normal. No soreness, aches or fatigue. Just in time for my departure tomorrow for my usual trip to warmer weather in the Fox Mountain. First time I'll be able to swing a golf club since my back surgery healed. Back early March.

I had my 1st shot Friday (Moderna). I had a little soreness in my arm but not bad at all. Later Friday evening I started getting muscle and joint pain, but again not bad. A couple of Tylenol took care of it.

Saturday was a different story -- a lot of joint pain and some fatigue. Bad enough that we cancelled a planned visit with my father-in-law. I didn't feel like I was up to a 2 hour round trip. Some of my symptoms could come from the severe arthritis and fibromyalgia I have. Today, Sunday, I'm pretty much back to my normal.

Shot #2 in 4 weeks. Oh, and I had to go out of county to get it without waiting a couple of months.

Russ, Hope all goes well for you. Enjoy your time in the SW. Just don't over due with the golf club.
Thanks for reporting back.

Seeing as I started this thread, I figured I had better report back.

My wife and I got the call this morning. We are now scheduled for our first shot next Monday, Mar. 22.

My wife and I received our first (Moderna) shot last month on the 26th. Our second shot is scheduled for 26th of this month. Dreading it due to a lot of symptoms after getting the second dose. Anyway, I post again after my second. 🤞

Had our 1st on 2/11 with little to no side effects other than sore arms. The 2nd shot was 3/12 that the next day knocked us on our butts for about 24 hours, chills, extreme fatigue, slight fever, NO energy, couldn't stay awake, went to bed & slept for 12 hours (which neither of us has ever done) & arms sore as hell for about 2 days.

I also received a call today and got my first shot scheduled for March 22nd. I am looking forward to getting it as my wife has had both of hers for over a month now. She was able to get hers fairly early due to her job.
I certainly hope everyone and there families in this group can stay healthy and have a great camping season and return back to a normal (or the new normal) life very soon.

Got my first Pfizer shot last Thursday. No side effects but my one thumb is sore. I give it two thumbs up.
