AC won’t kick on

I have a 2015 Zinger 32QB and last night the air conditioner kicked off (during a storm). After a while of not kicking back on, I lowered temp and the fan nor compressor kicked on. I checked breakers and none were tripped. I cycled them, but to no resolution.

Camper is covered 100% by a metal carport just as additional information.

Everything else is working (both 12v/110)….is there something silly I’m missing to check prior to calling service and shelling out 100’s?

Did you have a surge protector. If not I recommend one. I have progressive. Now it could have been damaged if you didn’t have a surge protector. But try this.
Turn off your air conditioner at the thermostat. ...
Turn off your air conditioner at the circuit breaker. ...
Turn your air conditioner back on at the circuit breaker. ...
Wait for 30 minutes. ...
Turn your air conditioner back on at the thermostat. Good luck

Try resetting the system.

Do you have multiple units?

What type of thermostat do you have?

Unplug the camper, turn off the 12v. Wait for 10 min and plug everything back in.

Depen8on the model of thermostat you have, there may be a fuse inside. Does it work?

I got as far as I was comfortable and called a service tech in. Upon inspection, he found the control board was fried (I assume due to lightning strike since AC shut off as soon as thunder hit…it was LOUD! I wonder why it didn’t cause a breaker to trip either at the box or in the unit.

He is replacing tomorrow and I’ll update if this isn’t the solution.

As a side note, I will be purchasing a surge protector to use with our camper.

Glad you figured out what happened.

This is the one I purchased last time. Took about an hour to install. It's inside the camper so you don't have to worry about someone stealing it.

Progressive Industries RV Surge Protector, Available in 30/50 Amp, Portable and Hardwired Options. https://a.co/d/5TMufbH

There is also a version that's 30A if you have that. The remote display is nice so you can put it somewhere you can see. For me, the actual unit needed to be behind the fuse panel.

Surge protector at a minimum but a EMS is better. We have the Progressive Industries 50 amp Hardwired Ems. Last week the wife noticed the front ac would not come and on the readout it said that line 2 was turned off and only had 8 volts. Called the ranger and maintenance came out and fixed it. The EMS turned off that leg and saved the ac.

I have the EMS PT50X Progressive 50 amp portable. I like progressive because they warranty theirs for life and stand by their products.

Papa-T I have the same one, my son welded a chain onto the metal loop and I wrap it around the electric pedestal and lock so nobody runs off with it.

Personally, I had an external 30A progressive I used with my old trailer. I got tired of worrying about it getting stolen so I went with the hardwired internal Progressive EMS 50A (that I linked above) when I bought my new one. If you're not into buying from Amazon, that's fine. The same model is available from just about anyone.

Install was easy behind the fuse panel where the main line comes into the camper. Instructions were great.

One of the best upgrades I did (besides the backup lights).
