I read on another forum that when the TT is plugged into the truck for transport that the battery on the TT is being charged. Is this something that takes place?

It depends on the wiring of the trailer plug. Some are hooked while on others you have to instal the fuse for this to be true.

Most trailers are wired with a 12 volt lead to charge the battery. The tow vehicle must also be wired to put 12v on the socket. If I remember correctly it is pin #6 on the socket.

On GM trucks that has the trailer package there is a fuse (40 amp I believe) that is required to energize the circuit. On my 2001 it was a large spade type fuse, while on the new 2011 it is a 40 amp fuse of a new design. Your owners manual for the TV should have information or any service department should be able to help.

as others have stated in their posts , you will need to find the wire in the harness if it came with the tow package . also, you will have to have it in T/H mode if you have that on your TV for the 12 volt system to charge your RV battery while driving . i have a GM product . i don't know about the other SUV and Truck manfs.

I have a Dodge and it has 12v to the plug, the wire from the front of the truck to the plug is 22AWG which is awful small to try and charge the battery. Maybe other brand truck have bigger wiring.
