Electric Tongue Jack
Hello all,
Just wanted to know something in regards to the power for these electric tongue jacks. I was under assumption that these jacks were powered by your battery and also when you hook up your trailer plug. I have a 2015 F250 w/ factory towing package. I was told by the RV dealership, I do not have 12 volts coming out of my hitch receptacle. Thought that was hard to believe. If its a truck fuse/relay that blown or not working, i would have other problems, more things wouldn't work. The reason this all started was my electric tongue jack quit working, my battery died on me. It was a few years old, but i thought if i hooked up my trailer plug to my truck, it would power the hitch. A little confused about all this. Any input would be appreciated very much.....tried charging battery and it wouldn't hold charge. New battery and my jack works fine...also was told that some motors on these jacks, some of them have a brake, which will not let you manually raise or lower the jack until you take away all power to the jack, like pulling the fuse or disconnecting battery lead or leads. Thanks
