How many people really compare the VIN stamped on the tongue of FW, to the Title and the sticker on the side of the trailer. When I went to get my 305skp FW I just happened to check the VIN that was stamped on the tongue. It was different than what was on the Title. The Title and the sticker plate matched. On the tongue there was a space where there should have been a zero and a number 8 that should have been a 6. Crossroads told me to take it to a repair shop and have them stamp a 0 and grind out the 8 and change it to a 6. Camping World is closest authorized repair center and they are checking on how to go about this. One CW I called said they couldn't do it because they had no metal stamping tools. Sure hope this doesnt turn into a nightmare, not sure on legality of grinding out VIN.
I think this is much ado about nothing. You have the title, bill of sale, manufacturer's sticker, etc. Wouldn't a grinded, altered VIN look more suspicious?

I agree on changing VIN, but if I were to sell it later on and VIN on title and FW didnt match could there be some kind of problems. The sticker on the side of my old FW I sold (9 years old)was all faded out from the sun and you couldnt read it. So only had Title VIN to compare to FW.
Contact your local DMV. Messing with VIN numbers on vehicles in some states is a felony. They should be able to give you the correct procedure to make your title and VIN match. The sticker doesn't mean anything, it's the stamped number that counts.

I would want a title that matched what is stamped in the frame. Like you said the tag can fade or be damaged or removed. I would not modify what is stamped.
Just my 2 cents

Im in Ohio right now, but called back to the DMV in FL and explained the VIN to them. They wanted to know what the position of the wrong numbers were in. Since they were at the beginning, they said it would be ok to get them changed to match the Title and would be no problem. So that made me feel better. I will get a receipt for it though and keep it with the title.
