Hello from Minnesota!

Well, most of the time. We have been wintering in Texas; Victoria, mostly.
Just replaced my 2021 Starcraft Superlite with a 2012 Crossroad Cruiser 5th wheel. A real upgrade for us. Pulling it with a 2016 GMC Denahli HD.

Welcome!

Double check how they built it from the factory. We have a 2010 bumper pull Cruiser. The factory overlap the aluminum skirting on the bottom OVER the fiberglass, instead of the other way around. As soon as the lapping compound dried and cracked a little, it channeled water into the unit. Of course it was hidden behind trim strips.

I just fixed another one of their issues that popped up. They missed the hole in the nose where one of the running lights was attached. So they just covered it up with putty.

I have been chasing a lot of bad building techniques, wish someone could have tipped us off on what to look for.

Factory FUBARS not withstanding, we do like the layout and the room. We have dogs and their crates go in the back bedroom now that we have no kids. We tried to downsize from it (its a 30 ft one) but can't find anything with as nice a layout. Most units now have an island in the middle. With our slide opened we actually have a pretty big room !

Nice report. I have the 5th wheel and although I bought it used in 2017, 2 years old, I have found the construction of my 5th wheel to be rather above normal. I am really handy and there are always things to fix and or improve to the way you like it. I work out of my RV and was seriously thinking of buying new with a dedicated desk area but decided with my alterations I could save spending a load of money on the newer post covid not so well built options. As it is a 2015 and brownish we think an internal paint job etc to lighten it up and modernize should be the ticket. The Cruiser layout is very nice with alot of room. My propane /electric fridge broke on my last trip and I put a residential fridge in the slot, now I have twice as much room to store food etc.

Welcome fellow Minnesotan. I agree with you on winter travel.
As much as I love Minnesota, it is nice to get away in the winter, and soak up a little warmth.
