Hello and welcome to the forum. Congrats on the new zinger. I can honestly tell you that we love our Zinger after almost a year of ownership. As to your truck and the new 5'er, I can't really help you, all I can say to check your trucks payload vs the weight that your family and your 5er will be placing on the TV. I wish you many happy trips w/ your new trailer.

The pin weight is listed as 1,420 lbs or there about.Add the truck's weight, passenger weight, cargo weight, fuel weight plus the weight of the hitch and I bet you are over the gross carry weight for your RAM. You need to read the mfg's plate on the driver's door sill for exact numbers. Remember, not one of us goes out with a coach weighing just the empty weight. You have food, clothes, bedding, TV set(s), water, propane, etc.
I know I will get castigated but it is pretty much a given that 1/2 ton trucks are not suitable for towing 5th wheel RVs. Many people do it. You did not tell us the year of your truck. Many new trucks far exceed the towing capacity of even two or three years ago. Many say they can tow with a 1/2 ton but the braking does become an issue.

I may be wrong but I always thought towing capacity was what you could drag down the road, no mention of pin weight or bumper weight. Funny the specs apply to towing and not stopping????
Carrying capacity is what you can put in your PU and haul, don't forget to add the weight of the driver and passenger to the empty weight. Full tank of gas, tools and whatever else you haul around. Then add the pin weight of ~1500 lbs, this case.
GCVWR is the total, pickup, trailer, and carrying.
Welcome to the group and enjoy that new trailer.

scott, we go to hither hills (state campground) in montauk every year. you have to book 9 months to the day in advance. it sells out in 2 minutes(no B.S. 2 minutes). they only allow fri-sat-and sunday check ins during the season. we also hit teddy roosevelt (sp?) also known as shagwon(also montauk). shagwon is no resavations-county campground, and its dry camping on the beach. its a blast. the water is real calm. you just need to air down your truck and trailer tires to drive in the sand.
i bought my trailer from eddy's. i got it for a great price but there service is the worst. crossroads might have pulled there stuff out of there. two years ago they were caught selling units and not reporting them sold to the manufacters, to the tune of 3 million + kind of like the McNamara case.Edited by: spinella
